2019 Superduty Brakes

Anyone having any issues or concerns with the brakes on the Superduties?

I have a 2019 F350, crew cab, SRW with a diesel. It’s a great truck and I am really liking it. My only concern is that the breaks just don’t seem to be performing as well as I would have imagined they would compared to my 2008 F250 2WD gas burner. The F350 only has 400 miles on it so I am hoping the brakes improve when the pads wear in some. The brakes work, I just haven’t been overly impressed to this point.

Anyone experience similar concerns?

I felt the initial bite was a bit lacking so I swapped pads and it helped a bit. When towing there were times when I wondered if we were going to get everything slowed down enough.

Coming from a GM 2500 I'm damned impressed with the brakes on my 19 F250. But I haven't towed anything with it yet.

I found my brakes got a little better after a couple thousand miles. May or may not be the case for you...

Bed them in if you want good braking. These brakes are way better than previous generations, but they do have a long lasting pad, that can create a fair bit of brake dust. Once you use them hard a few times their bite is much better.

Have owned eight GM 3500 trucks over the last 30 years and the brakes on my 2018 Ford are the best i have ever had.

It does take some time for the pads to bed-in.

Also, the pads do work better with a little heat in them. They stop the truck and trailer amazingly well.

Glad to hear others think the trucks have good brakes. I was thinking I needed to be patient and let them wear in some so I will do that. Thanks for all the replies...

I'm wasn't thrilled with my 19` stopping power at first and found myself stopping much later than I anticipated. After a thousand it is getting better but I've got lots of dust as well on the front wheels. I'll see how it goes, but I may be looking for a more aggressive pad to help, but no idea how the engine brake, tow/haul and trailer brakes will feel with a load on it, haven't had the chance yet... Saturday will be my first test.

I actually think I may have a little more doubt in stopping distances not because of the brakes performance, but because of the speeds I am going. I find that I regularly lose track of how fast I am going and now I am expecting a 8500lbs truck to stop like a sports car. Sometimes I have really had to lay into the pedal. It really is insane how quickly these trucks get going.

Definitely had an issue with the brakes on my 2018 when I drove it off the dealer lot - thought I wasn't going to stop at the edge of their driveway! Pedal travel was excessive and I felt that the brakes were acting like they had air in the hydraulics. I had bought out-of-state and needed to get home, so babied it all the way back. Went to my local dealer to get he brakes bled the following Saturday (shop is open in the morning) but was told they won't do any warranty work on the weekend. I stormed away vowing to never return and decided to try a different dealer near my office, but work got busy and I put it off. In the mean time, the pads bed-in and the braking became quite good. So like all other, I suggest you give the brakes a little time, but use good judgment in your braking distance and traffic situations until you have a couple thousand miles on the vehicle.

Regards,
Steve C.

Mine got better after a couple thousand miles. The need to set in. If you brake harder they will set faster, but also create more brake dust.
