Hitch Drop

Got my 2019 F250, need to buy a new Hitch Ball Mount. Going with an adjustable, haul a variety of trailers, big and small. I'm curious what is working for you guys? I was thinking 8" Drop would work, but a 10" is available in the same model mount. The 10" will hang about 11" from the ground, too close IMO. Opinions?

All depends on your trailers. None of mine have dinky tires, so they've all got hitches decently far off the ground. So an 8 inch drop was more than enough for me.

I use an 8” drop. The bottom of my driveway has a big dip so a level trailer is a must to keep the rear from dragging. The 8” drop works perfectly and none of my trailers hit.

I run the Fastway solid steel HD ball mount. 2000 lb tongue and 20k max rating. The thing is a beast and very heavy. I'm sure the aluminum ones are fine but I still dont trust them.

I picked up a Weigh Safe 8”drop hitch for my truck. I haven’t yet had to drop it all the way to its limit as of yet. It is a solid aluminum hitch and is a nice piece, finely machined in the USA. If you go to trunkmonkey, com and use FTE as the code you get a 10% discount.

HST,

Is the Fastway SSBM hitch very loud, meaning does it fit on your F350 loosely or does the ball portion have any slack in it? I was planning to get a B&W when I saw this. I like the additional rating over the B&W, just wondering about the build quality of the Fastway. There are very limited reviews on this ball mount but it looks like a good one.

I just bought Curt 17132 drop shank, it's 2.5" to fit the Class V receiver on the truck. It is Very Well Built.

8" drop should meet all you needs unless you towing a garden tractor mulch cart.

With that said, if you have or plan on towing TT, then the Anderson WDH would be a good choice to consider.
Ease of set up and when not using the WDH portion will tow all other trailers.
Otherwise, I have towed utility 20' trailer and our 33" TT with this B&W stowable ball set up with good results.

I got a 6” adjustable drop with a 2.5” shank. Haven’t had to run it down to the lowest adjustment slot yet on any of the three trailers I pull but the smallest wheels are 15’s.

I have the Weigh Safe 8" drop. I could easily get by with the 6" drop for the 3 trailers I pull.

I also have a Weigh Safe 8" I couldn't see needing more on a stock truck in fact a 6" probably would have been fine

I'd love to be able to run an adjustable...
My driveway approach is kinda steep and with a 5" forged drop (yes I found a 5"!) the threads of the ball gently scrape as I back in...
I leave the drawbar in full time as a step and bumper protection...

There is a little play in it but I have yet to hear it. I also remove the ball mount when I'm not towing so I cant give info on that noise.

I'm running a 6" Weigh Safe on my 350 and it's plenty.
