power steering pressure hose (o-ring vs flare)
Im having trouble finding a replacement hose for my 1979 F100 351w. All the hoses i can find have a captive o-ring on the pump side of the hose fitting. My original hose has a flared fitting that connects to the pump. Is this an alternate or possibly from a different vehicle? Does anyone know which vehicles had the flared fitting on the pump so i can order a hose that works?
Thanks
Thanks

No need for custom. If you're running the earlier style metal pump, this is the hose you're looking for:

The P/S pressure hose has a straight tube on the pump end with an o-ring on it. This hose attaches to the pump w/a qwik connect fitting.
1967/77's used the Ford/Thompson P/S pump, it has a steel reservoir. The P/S pressure hose threads onto the pump.
Be aware there were no 351W's installed in F150/350's & Bronco's until 1981. No F100 of any year has a 351W

Darkrider- I saw that hose but was worried that it may not be the right length
Numberdummy- I forgot to mention this is not the original engine. At some point in time it was swapped from a 300 inline 6 to 351w. I should probably find out what year and where the engine came from. I just found out the pump is a GM unit with an adapter bracket. Down here in Puerto Rico people make do with what they have haha.

GM used the Saginaw pump as did 1975/97 Econolines & 1972/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars with Hydro-Boost.
Genuine Ford hose has an ID number stamped on one of the swagged ends where it attaches to the rubber hose.

Oh that makes sense! It is a Saginaw pump. The problem I am having now is that I bought a remanufactured pump and didn’t realize until I got home the metric o ring fitting on the pressure out port is different than the new pressure hose I have. I have the larger male fitting on the hose and smaller female on the pump
i think there are 3 different sizes of the oring type. You probably know better than I do.
Im just trying to find either a hose that fits the pump or a fitting that I can swap into the pump to make the hose work.
I’ll go back and see if they have a Saginaw pump set up for an econoline?

This might sound lame, but I got so frustrated with matching my pressure hose, I took my old one to a local hose shop and they matched it in 20 minutes, but it sounds like you dont have an old hose that fits the new pump... could it be worth taking the pump out and bringing to a hose shop ? I live in a mining area so our hose shops have made thousands of hoses for everything imaginable and they can usually look at what you got and make you something in minutes....
