460 4x4 engine swap to I6

i have a 93 f150 with just over 345k. She's still a solid truck and I want to keep her but I've just moved to the country in mid-Missouri and I need 4x4. I'm tired of getting stuck. There is a 95 f350 4x4 crew cab with a blown 460 for sale nearby for 700$. My question is, will the 300 have enough guts to move the larger truck to highway speeds in a reasonable manner. Will the 350's towing capacity be greatly diminished. Will the 300 bolt straight onto the auto in place? I know ford offered this engine in that body, but I can't imagine that there were too many takers. Would it be difficult to find the right computer for that combo?
Im hoping to be able to tow a 30+ ft fifth wheel trailer with a 40 horse Kubota and random implements on it.
thanks for any feedback

The bell housing from the small block pattern engine and the big block pattern Trans will not work.

Are you sure? I haven't come across any information that a straight 6 was offered in a 1995 F350 4X4 Crew Cab. I believe the 5.8L was the smallest available and it's (IMO) just enough for light towing duties. If I was going to tow horses and 30 foot fifth wheels, Diesel or 460 minimum.

Even empty, that 300 six is going to struggle making highway speeds.

Were you around back in the '70s when a truck towing a trailer was the slowest thing on the road, that is where you are headed putting a 150hp motor in a 7000lb truck.

I swapped my 300 for a 351 and I can tell you that the 300 was adequate.....but to swap it into a crew cab 4X4 and expect it to pull an empty fifth wheel trailer would be torture enough. If it were me, I would go with a diesel swap....

To be blunt, and waste no time; this is a terrible idea.

Rebuild the 460 if it needs a rebuild.

or you could do axle swap on the f150. D60/10.25 8 lug f150 would do pretty good.

You'd still need a trans to bolt to the 300 though...
