WOOHOO! New LEGENDARY 4R100 HEAVY DUTY TRANSMISSION and Billet torque converter arrive today. Found the flush procedure in tech folder, figured that will drain the old one.
Would this be the most economical way to get the fluid?

New trans looks nice!
Doing the flush procedure really only drains the level out of the pan via the cooler line, I think you would be better off just pulling the pan drain plug to drain what you can and then break both cooler lines away and drain them. Hopefully you also bought a new 6.0 trans cooler to go with the new slush box, it's a great upgrade for the 7.3 and with a new trans you should use a new cooler to prevent any contamination. What was the issue with the old trans?

You have to be very careful adding additional coolers in series as they can raise the line pressure enough to open the bypass valve in the trans. The 6.0 cooler is really about as good as it gets and is like three times the size of the stock 7.3 cooler. Dormant makes a nice 6.0 cooler for a decent price, I recent installed on on my V-10 tow rig EX, bolts right in and keeps the fluid a good 10/15* (at least) cooler under all conditions.

Plan was to augment the current cooler in the radiator with this one? Or should I just get the 6.0 as a stand alone? I thought the trans temp had to be regulated for winter?

Find the place that sells the 6.0 transmission cooler at the cheapest price (RockAuto has been recently) and replace the 7.3 cooler with the bigger 6.0 cooler. It's a drop in replacement, but you do have to make two adapters, which is easily done. I'm pretty sure there's a link in the tech folder for that.
