PLEASE HELP ME!! AUTO TO 6SPEED SWAP 99. RUNS LIKE CRAP

I pulled the auto out of my 99 250 sd and put in a 04 zf6 with almost no miles on it, I bought a complete truck with bad motor. It's all done and drives beautifully but it runs terrible, I rebuilt the v10 that's in it from the ground up, it came out of an rv and it was ugly and I wanted to know it will run so I tore it down. Ran fine with the auto but my problem is I can't find ANYONE to flash my computer to recognize the auto is GONE. it bucks and studders and misses everywhere I go. I'm getting horrible mileage started at 13 highway to now 6mpg highway. I've called everywhere I can think of, I even tried 5 star tuning but I don't want to have it tuned I just want it to be stock and run smooth before I think of tuning it. I'm already over 5k invested and I still have bodywork to do. Anyone have thoughts on this, I can only find posts for powerstrokes I've seen NOTHING on v10 6speed swaps. Kind of ridiculous I didn't think the v10 was so scarce

Why don't you pull the PCM out of the bad truck you bought? Not sure if when you flash or swap PCMs, that the TCM stops mattering anymore. ZF-6 trucks don't have the TCM at all, so you might need to figure out that piece as well.

Also, while that thread is about a 7.3, many of the things will be the same for you as well.

The truck I got it out of was an 04 f250. So the computer is different, it actually runs fantastic until I go past quarter throttle. Normally I could figure this out but it looks like I'll have to go with 5star tuning on this one.

Nice. I would still hold onto the manual PCM in the even that you can't get yours working correctly. Definitely let us know, since I"m sure other people want to know. Thanks!

talked to 5star and they said the only thing I can do is find a pm from a 99 to 03 that was already standard or get them to program the one I have, the truck is a beast with the 6 speed and with the 410 gears I put in it, it will pull anything it seems. It just has nothing past half throttle, and I know she wants to rev but there's a gremlins telling it no lol

Nice, sounds like they have you covered. How much did they quote you to reprogram the PCM? You should check out FICMparts.com, Ed MAY be able to help you out as well.

Well hat's off to the pros at 5star tuning, I have 3 custom tunes for my truck and all I can say is WOW. I knew the 6.8 was a good motor but man the 93 performance/tow tune really woke this thing up. I can't be happier. I ended going with the overnight shipping and fast lane service which is 75 dollars more and 10 bucks a tune, 545 total spent. WELL worth it in my opinion, I can actually tow now without worrying if my driveshaft is gonna snap from the bucking. If you ever find yourselves in my situation strongly recommend 5startuning.com thanks guys.
