I just completed a 200 mile trip with a regen and averaged 12.5 mpg. Its my highest milage with my 11.5k 5th wheel so far. I did set the cruise to about 58-59 mph, which is slower than normal. The truck has about 22k mile on it. I'm happy as can be.

 

Thats great! I personally dont have the patience to drive quite that slow. I'm usually between 65-70, and average 10.5 pulling my 16K Cardinal.

 

That's great fuel mileage! Normal for me is 9 mpg at 63 to 65 mph but at 55 to 60 mph I can get up to 11 mpg if conditions are right. These 5th wheels can be like towing a sea anchor!

 

If the wind blows wrong it can really kill milage. Up until this trip I was doing about 11.5 mpg at 60. I do use a fuel catalyst which I can't recall now and Optilube Summer Plus. I 've been pleased with both. I think the engine is doing better with more break-in miles.

 

I couldn't remember the name of the product so I looked it up. It's called Enerburn. Used it for atleast 5 k miles.

 

I just refueled a few hours ago. I pulled our 16K RV 495 miles round trip; the up mileage was 9.1 and the return was 9.49. Mostly at 65 mph.
Odo now at 1291 miles, DEF at 3/4.

 

wow. You must have a new truck at under 1300 miles. Good for you.

 

That's very good mileage. Pulling my Excel fifth-wheel I can normally expect 11+ on each tank full, barring any headwinds.

 

I only get a little over 11 empty with my F-450. Of course, I have 4.30 gears and drive between 80-85...

 

I generally average 16-17 MPG but when towing the 13K (16K fully loaded) Toy Hauler, it drops to around 11 MPG on average. I regularly run 70 MPH out West but that was only after upgrading the trailer tires to GoodYear G614s.

 

After my initial 1000 miles for breakin I towed my 5er 2k+ miles and averaged 10.5 at 65ish mph. Thought that was pretty good with 4.10 gears.

 

I know it's not a 5th wheel, but it's on the longer side of a bumper pull. I pull our 36ft-er a few times a year and don't really worry about fuel mileage, but do glance at it once in a while. On our last round trip from Alexandria Louisiana to Biloxi Ms, and back it was mixed interstate and regular highway driving, never hit the reset and ended the trip with about 11.5mpg. That was total trip, idle time at dump site, idle at pumps, ect.... I'm not complainig at all, because the power is smooth and strong, and it pulls great with the 3.55 gears. My old ecoboost (4x4, 3.55, 3.5eco) pulled a 26ft enclosed trailer with a drag vega in it and only averaged about 9mpg, still pulled it well, but not like this 6.7 would've.

 

I"M currently in East Glacier Montana and traveled from Western Washington with a couple of mtn passes in between. 2012 F350 Averaging 12mpg pulling a 36ft Montana 5th wheel at 13,000 lbs. 2 regens and IM using Ford Motorcraft fuel additive. 59,000 miles and since new pulling this 5ver I've seen low 11's and mid 12's depending on speed and how many grades we are pulling.

 

Pulling my 11K bumper pull toy hauler through the Rocky Mountains I rarely get over 9.6 MPG. Usually at 65 MPH or less. I have to wonder if the 5th wheel profile accounts for a lot of the difference.

 

I would think the 5vers would get better mpg over the Bumper pulls with like weight ratios due to the aerodynamic of the front cap and positioning. Maybe others have some insight on a mpg difference?
