65 f100 Interior and seat

I am about to get back to the restoration of my old truck. One thing I was thinking about is the interior. I haven't decided if I will go with a vinyl floor or carpet, but either should be easy to find online for sale. A question I have, what are people using for a seat? I have the stock bench which would need reupholstering, but I don't really think I want a stock seat. One thing I did consider was a split bench from a newer truck, that would have the seat belts built in. I looked at some in a salvage yard and some are just too thick on the back for a regular cab truck. I am 6 feet tall, I need the seat back as much as I can! I thought maybe a CV seat would work but I looked at a couple and they may have same issue, just too thick pushing the seat forward too much. I could go with buckets but I am trying to keep a 3rd seat as I have kids that could ride with me.
Any seats that are a pretty good fit? Something not too crazy to locate? I don't care what brand it comes from, prefer not chevy tho, hate to taint my truck

I am slowly reassembling my truck with more readily available parts at affordable prices. I am using bucket seats out of a 2002 Honda Civic with the headrests removed. For the centre console I used a centre section out of a 1999 Dodge Ram to keep it a three seater if needed. Sorry no pics at this time.

That's a great idea . I didn't think about mix matching seats and centers!
i will definitely look into that. Bucket seats are easy to get hold of. A decent bench on other hand in cloth/velour is tough. Either ripped, stained or crazy expensive if not.
I appreciate your input. I've been building this truck if mine off Craigslist and pick n pull yards. Trying to keep total build under $3000. So far I'm on track!

I did not like the 60's style bench seat, so I opted to put the 87-91 XLT bench seats in my 65.
I liked it because it is a bench, but the center arm rest folds down. They are nice, and very comfortable
I had to modify the bracket, as it was curved in front rather then flat as 60's floor board is.
It does not sit too high
I have it all the way back touching the gas tank, and it is perfect for me and I am about 5' 11"
I ordered seat covers from Rock Auto, and recovered myself.
This is the bench I am referring to, but not my seat
I will try to post pictures of mine

I drive a 95 xlt daily and it has pretty much that same seat with the arm rest built in. I did think about going that route as my 95 is pretty comfortable. I just have a problem finding a decent seat around here. The pick n pulls have no good seats still in a truck, and most seats are torn up pretty bad. My 95 came from the 2nd owner and it was used pretty gently so this truck has a nice seat, but that seems rare! I will keep looking for one though as it seems it would be a fairly easy fit!

You could do a combo on the floor like this. Front 1/2 rubber mat, from front of seat back to rear of cab carpet. The rubber part was ordered from one of the catalogs(I think NPD) and could have been made better. It's a little thin at some of the curves over the tranny hump and already has cracks there. The carpet is just from some that I had left from another project.

Seem to recall 67-72 seats wider but use same seat track. From 1967 to 90's wider and the bench and backs can be mixed and matched however, the seat track from 65-72 have to be swapped with the later model bench seats. Installed 87 Lariat 40/20/40 seats in my 65, preferred because the seat profile sets lower and provides me a bit more belly and foot room.

Yea that belly room is a consideration for sure! haha I will be scanning the local pick and pull soon, I appreciate the ideas.
As for flooring, haven't decided, vinyl or carpet? I like both. I am going to use this as a daily driver so she won't be a show truck. I do want it to look nice though. But a nice look can be had either way. I don't think the cost is much different either way so I just have to decide

I had a 95 Ford F150 seat in mine from when I bought the truck. I don't like old trucks with newer style seats myself so I had my 95 seat cut down, armrest removed, electric motors removed and turned into a more classic style bench seat.

Thanks 56Deere and Fuelsmoke1. I've been happy with it. I tried hard to find an original bench seat...even just the frame but had no luck which forced me into turning the newer F150 seat into what it is today.

I understand, finding original parts in good enough shape to re-use isn't always easy. I have an original seat, although I am not sure it is original from this truck. My steering column and seat are blue. The truck is originally white. Nothing else in the truck is blue. But maybe that is how it came? It just seems out of place, I would have expected the seat and steering wheel to be black in an otherwise all white truck. The 240 inline 6 that was in it was a 1972 engine. I thought maybe the seat and steering column maybe got changed when the engine did but I have no idea.
I have considered reupholstering my seat but I'm not crazy about the older bench seats. I'd like one out of a lincoln or something like that with a nice cushy seat but the backs are so thick I won't have any leg room, or more importantly and belly room! haha

fuelsmoke1 - post a pic of your warranty plate and I can tell you if the blue is original to your truck or not.

My white truck has a red seat and black steering column with a white steering wheel, but it's an F250 4x4 Custom Cab so a bit different than the 2WD trucks.
