Diamond in the rough or run away quickly?

Good Day everyone.
Lookin for some advice and direction, While looking for parts for my 2002 ranger I stumbled across this.
It looks like most of the parts are there ( missing drive shaft and rear axle and some engine bay stuff ).

Thinking it might be fun to try and put this back on the road, there are a number of other trucks same vintage that I can probably pull some items off if need be along with other V8's. I have no idea what the frame looks like is it realistic to pull all the panels and stuff off and use them on another frame of the same vintage or move them to a new ( what would you suggest ) platform if the frame is no good?

Never tried anything like this before other than swapping parts between Rangers.
comments or suggestions appreciated

If you have to take a ferry to get to it, I'd just leave it.

I don't know if that is a diamond in the rough as much as it is a lump of coal. I can't speak for the availability of F1s in your area but in the SoCal/AZ area there are quite a few rust-free trucks that would make a far better "diamond in the rough".

Better to poke yourself in the eye with a sharp stick. It will stop hurting after a while, but trying to bring that back to life will hurt for a much longer time.

More of a parts truck. Its pretty rough from what we can see so that usually means its far worse. But having said all that id still rescue it if the price was right. Then again I'm not quite all there myself, haha.

Run very quickly from that pos if you're looking for a project. Stuff like that is how rat rods come to exist.

Agreed. However, if you could get the intake manifold off of it, I could be interested in that. It's a Canadian part that needs to be on my Canadian truck.

PS; welcome to the forum!

I once met a guy that was wearing the ugliest shirt I had ever seen. I asked him where he got it? His reply - a big scary guy chased me for four blocks before he caught me and forced me to take it! I think that truck is in the same category
Have fun

The gas in the sediment bowl looks good. Try jumping it.

I know where there is one and it's already off the engine, if there is any numbers embossed on the manifold post them and I'll check it out, if I remember there is a carb on it too..

John, it would have "C8BA C8RT 6520" cast into the top right behind the carb.

Yes, what Ross said, and it would be aluminum (or, do you say aluminium, like they do over the pond?). You can see where the numbers are behind the carb in this photo. Thanks!

Wayne, you should watch for an aluminum Canadian Merc manifold, with the 4-bolt carb mount. A Rochester 2G will bolt right on....

I'll right down those numbers and take a look next weekend, I had it in my hand and it is aluminum..and pretty sure the carburetor was still on it. There was a lot of loose stuff in that pile, I'm going to grab a 4brl Y-block manifold for a friend of mine. I'm not familiar with any of the part numbers or what they belong to..
