Overdrive issue..
Hello.
So i have my Ford Aerostar 95 XTL E4WD V6 4.0L.
My overdrive have stopped working ... it started a while ago, it sometimes wanted to in to overdrive at 70 km/h and sometimes not...
Then i changed my transmission filter and oil, and it still only wanted to go in to overdrive from time to time..
Now it TOTALLY stopped working, what can it be ?

Does the 95 model still use a vacuum modulator? If it does, pull off the vacuum line to see if there is ATF in it. If so, the diaphragm has broken, and it does need to be replaced. I've never done this before, but I read that there is a pin that can fall out when you pull out the modulator, so be careful when doing that. There is a heat shield covering that area to protect it from the catalytic converter, so that has to be removed first. But some people have trouble pulling/installing because the cat con is in the way.
