EFI 302/M50D or EFI 300/M50D

So at this writing, I have an EFI 300/C-6 combination. I picked up a M50D in a complete parts truck. The truck had a the EFI 302 in it, but due to a con-rod nut coming off, #1 rod broke. So, I am wondering if I should install the 5 speed behind the 300, or get an EFI 302 and transplant the engine & trans at the same time? Gears in the rear are 3:54.

Thanks!!

I've owned em both and the 302 was better in every way except MPG. Your gears are 3.55 FYI.

You are correct. My gears are 3.55. The gears in the DANA that I have for my truck are 3.54. Thanks for the catch. ;-D

Well, if you have the v8 truck, I would put a good 302 in it and go.
But, if you like your 300 truck just do a trans swap and go.

300 and the M5OD is a pretty dependable combination, you'll have a usable power/torque curve with 3.55s and still get respectable fuel mileage out of the 300 (15-17 depending on your right foot)

If the truck has a 300 in it, much easier to keep it. Converting to V8 takes a lot of parts, motor mounts, wire harness, etc. Might be easier to get the parts truck running, than changing everything over.
