Regular cab question

I used to have a 2011 regular cab and it had a generous amount of room behind the seat. Looking at pictures of 2018's that doesn't seem to be the case. I like to be able to lean the seat back at lunchtime and store a few things behind there. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately the new regular cab is much smaller than your 2011 regular cab and a half. New regular cab is like the old regular cab with no room behind the seats.

I have quite a few things behind the seat of my regular cab-tools, ropes, gloves, rags, a couple of tow chains, a blanket, a jacket and a sweatshirt, a gallon of water, etc....

Well that's what I suspected. It sounds silly, but I do like to be able to recline the seat some what. Super duty is the same if I'm not mistaken.

Who said they don't recline? Both sides recline 3-4" on my 2018 XL regular cab longbed....

I'm sure they do, just not as much as the older model was my point.

Yep. I couldn't even consider a regular cab, even if the lack of storage in the cab was acceptable (which it's not). It's just too uncomfortable at 6'5". I'm actually surprised that they still make them, with the small demand for them today.

Try moving seat forward then recline it? It'll recline a lot better that way...

I'd be interested to see the sales figures for each level of F-150 from the XL regular cab to the $70k top of the line Raptors and Limiteds. Does Ford break down the sales that way and if they do can someone post them? I'm no expert but I would think that the XL regular cab would outsell the Raptor and maybe the Limited too. Besides, Ford can advertise the trucks "starting at" whatever the price of the XL is....

---if I am allowed to link to a different forum. The lack of space in the 2016 compared to the '09 reg. cab really annoyed me. I did this - got back quite a bit of useful space, big enough for camera bags, computer, groceries, etc.

Was it the 04-08 model years that had the regular cab with a half of the half door that the supercab had? I always thought that was a good idea...but they axed it from the following models.

In the last few years I've been seeing a lot more new regular cab trucks on the road and quite a few dealers are actually keeping one or two on hand. These trucks I'm seeing are not all farm or business trucks either, just regular people that decided they don't need the extra room or expense of a SC or CC truck.

Yes those were the years that had them I think they got rid of the half doors because they made the front doors longer on the 09-14 cabs. That took up most of the space of the half door.
