The Toyota box you want needs to come out of an early '80's Toyota 4x4 pickup. The supply has all but dried up. Classic Performance Products (CPP) makes a bolt in kit using their own aftermarket Toyota steering box.

I am not positive the '86 4x4 box will work. Call Mid Fifty or CPP or No Limit Engineering and see what they can do for you. You can purchase all of the parts needed to do this without buying the steering box. The Toyota box needs to fit the custom made "Vee" bracket which mounts the steering box to the frame. The CPP aftermarket steering box already has the mounting bracket made as part of the housing. I have done two of these installs years ago using the Toyota box. They both worked very well. I have not had the opportunity to use the CPP kit so I can't comment on that one.

I put the CPP box in my F250 4x4. I fabbed up a solid block of 3/4" plate to get the proper spacing off the frame for the column. The kit came with spacers, but i didn't think they were stout enough for my rig with 35" tires. Otherwise, it was a direct bolt-in. FYI, I also added a tilt steering column at the same time, so I can't say how easily the factory column goes back in. Overall, I am very pleased with the unit. CPP specifically said they wouldn't recommend it for a 4x4 application, but it's working fine for me so far.

I am curious to see how the CPP aftermarket power steering box holds up. It seems like a nice setup, but the power steering box is the critical component.

Thank you
Yeah that's what's been confusing me I thought the bolts on that one where supposed to line up with 2 of the factory bolts that doesn't appear it will line up at all. The bolts are on the bottom of that one

Nope you have to use an adapter to mount it. See below.

Hope this will work on a manual 59 f100, the stock one is so close to the slave cylinder.
