239 Guys - Fuel Pump

what are the 239 guys running for fuel pumps? I don’t see any replacements or rebuild kits.

Do you need vacuum provision for wipers?

I thought all Y blocks can use the same pump, at least if using electric wipers. I use the standard pump that an FE uses in my 292. With the integral fuel filter. Carter 4008 or 3528, I think it's Carter 6984, if filter not needed.

54 yblocks take a different fuel pump. Hopefully Dennis, Pinto Plumber, will be along shortly. He and some others know more about yblocks than I.

Or post your question on the Yblock forum.

Airtex 4070. I carry a spare in case it goes out when I’m racing. Early 239’s had a straight arm on the pump, later Y’s had a bend in the arm. Dennis

thank you! That looks like the pump that’s currently on my truck going to order it from amazon.

the fuel filter I have just after the pump often looks like it only has a 1/4 inch of gas at the very bottom. Is that normal due to the low PSI or an issue?

thanks,
Chris

Sorry I mixed that up.

i have one pre pump that is the one that only has a quarter inch of gas in it at times, the second is post pump before the carb. That is a metal canister so I can’t see what’s in there.

Mine has an air bubble in it, but it’s mostly full. I’ve run out of gas twice when it was very hot about 3/4’s of the way down the track. The pump will probably satisfy your needs. Dennis
