Best OBD2 dongle?

Hey guys I have tried the OBD link MX twice and and had problems with it, so I am looking for another Bluetooth device. My wife got me the fixd dongle which works well but only shows codes and no pids. I was looking at the bluedriver OBD dongle which is Bluetooth for Android or iOS. Have any of you tried out this one? It has a lot of good reviews but is also $100

I have a cheap OBD2 reader that always connects, works great with Torque Pro -- but can cause the truck to turn off and it can also cause a no-start situation if left in too long. Unplug it and the truck runs great again.

I have also had problems with the ODB link MX, but the second unit I received resolved all of the problems -- it can be a pain with initial connectivity, but I've never had it interfere with the truck's ability to operate yet. I'd also love to hear if there are better options out there -- especially since the cheap version and the MX are in two different price brackets.

What kind of problem did you have with the MX? I've used mine on many 7.3Ls and my Prius without issue. Did it not connect? There is a good chance that if you don't troubleshoot this first, whatever went wrong will happen again with the next dongle.

I switched to OBDLink LX earlier this year with no issues.

Before that I had a PLX Kiwi for years that worked great. I retired it when I upgraded to the LX.

The only problem I had was when I thought the BT adapter died when, in actuality, a fuse blew that powered the OBD II port.

This sounds more like something going on in the portable device than the MX. I had a problem with my WiFi calls not working on my phone, then I finally learned some battery-saving app or feature in my Android phone was shutting things off to conserve power.

I am able to see all the ones that are available from the Torque app PIDs for Powerstrokes. I monitor 8 right now...

Boost
HPOP
IPR
TCSLIP
Engine Oil Temp
Trans Temp
Exhaust Back Pressure
MAP

Might add Fuel injection as well. Also it shows my hp/trq/speed/transgear/etc/etc.

Took this morning Sorry for the glare.

So I have a bluetooth enabled Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS head unit. Could I get it to put torque pro on it like that? How do I check?

I can only assume L-ight's head unit is some kind of Android device, since TP is an Android app. So Mr. L-ight, what exactly is that Head unit? Do you like it?

You are correct. It is an Android headunit. This one to be exact...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079N9XDFT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079N9XDFT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Let me say it is pretty damn awesome. Though the dash kit I had to do a bit of trimming in order for it fit as well as the dash piece on the truck. It boots up in 1 second. Compared to my previous Android headunit it took 30 seconds. Was horrible. I have not had any freeze ups on it either. Reverse cam works great too. The headunit also comes with Torque Pro already installed. I believe I was able to uninstall it then reinstall it for the newer version. I can't recall. I also use my smartphone as a hotspot to run all my internet/music/gps/etc on the headunit. Be sure you have an unlimited data plan on your phone though. No stupid wires connecting to my phone anymore to mirror cast.
