Where to find rear Drive shaft?

I was changing out the U Joints on my rear drive shaft and managed to beat a flat spot in the drive shaft. Dumb, I know, but don't have a press and things got sideways. Now I need a new one and the only thing I can find online is the front drive shaft. Any suggestions where to find one? It's an 86 w/4.9, 4X4, C6 trans.

Also, the yoke attached to the differential looks like it was gouged out a little. Is there anything difficult abut swapping that out?

Here is a shot in the dark, I hope it helps !

https://www.dvap.com/

I was able and lucky enough to find many things for my original Mr Majestyk '70 F-250
and I'm now compiling a list for my '84 F-250

Be sure to take the time to call as their inventory at both locations is huge

Good Luck !

I don't know what half of that stuff means, but I scrubbed the list of all the 4X2/AOD/C5 options, so now I'm down to this. I also deleted all the "MT" entries because I guessed that was "Manual Transmission". Also, my drive shaft is only about 46" so I don't understand their measurements. I'll go take some pictures and come back and post them.

Their measurements are the "WB" or wheel base of the truck. Go out and measure from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel. It will be different depending on if it's a regular cab short bed, extended cab shortbed, regular cab longbed, extended cab longbed, etc.

Off the top of my head, I want to say the 133 inch is a regular cab longbed.

This is not a yoke, it's a companion flange. The splines of the rear axle pinion gear slide into the flange, is retained by a nut.

What rear axle does this 1986 F150 4WD have, 8.8 inch or 9 inch? 8.8 has an inspection cover, the 9 does not.

The WB aid 117”, so that narrows it down to one of these two:

117" WB, AT, 4x4, C6 transmission, non-removable carrier
117" WB, AT, 4x4, C6 transmission, removable carrier

i don’t know what the carrier is so I’m stuck here.

the rear end is (I believe) a 3.55 / 8.8”. Here’s a couple pics

Wheelbase makes no difference with type of rear axle.

AT, 4x4, C6 transmission, non-removable carrier = 8.8" with inspection cover (4033 in parts catalog pic).

AT, 4x4, C6 transmission, removable carrier = 9" without inspection cover.

the rear end is a 3.55 / 8.8”
It's an 8.8" because it has an inspection cover. Companion flange shown as 4851 in pic.

The rear axle ID tag is located at 2:00 o'clock in your lower pic.

You have the top one of the two with the non-removable carrier.

I punched that in this site, Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and nothing came up in Louisiana.

I punched in "southwest" region and this came up. You can go to the car part site and play around with it and see if you can find something near you. A driveshaft would be hard to ship I would think, but some of these guys will ship stuff.

P.S. I see he has a measurement, you can double check that. Just because it comes up in the search, does not mean it will fit. Garbage in, garbage out type thing when the guy at the junkyard enters his parts stock.

But, how was it measured? Notice at the bottom of the parts catalog pic how Ford measures them.

Most people when you ask for the length, they include the slip yoke w/the u-joint that does not come with the driveshaft.

I hate messing with drive shafts on the net, because getting an accurate measurement from people can be a study in futility.

Oh and I just looked, OP says his shaft measures 46." In two words: Im Possible! There is no rear shaft for the OP's "short bed" applications that measures any more than 38 3/8."

Look at the pic of the driveshaft in post #5. The OP's measurement includes the slip yoke.
