Dirty EGR valve prevent starting?
My truck (05 F250 6.0) has been taking longer than usual to start lately. I got an 0404 code and figured I needed to clean the EGR valve. Yesterday it stranded me at work. I came back to town this morning and checked the fault codes and got P0403, P0404, and P0405. All EGR codes. I pulled the EGR valve and it's just covered in carbon. I know that it needs to be replaced, but the Ford place is closed today. Also I think that part is over $200 and that's kind of tough for me right now. I'm wondering if that could cause a no-start situation and if cleaning it up would get me back on the road.

I believe you can do just that, if your EGR is deleted. There's several out there you can buy, or you can fab one up.
I finally got my new EGR valve from White Bear Lake Ford. It was worth the wait for the savings. But, truck still no start. I'll bring my tablet in to work tomorrow and see if there are any new codes. The CPS has gone out twice on this truck, I'll have to brush up on what that's supposed to read when cranking. I can never remember if it's 1 or 0. I also need to check and make sure I have the PID input correct. Seems like I never got a correct reading on mine.
