Fuel Wheels Center Cap Doesn't Fit...

Has anyone else running Fuel wheels had this issue? I had new wheels and tires put on yesterday. Went with Fuel Podium 20x9 +1 offset wheels. The center caps fit fine on the front axle, but aren't deep enough for the rear, maybe a 1/2" too short. Dealer has no idea if Fuel makes a center cap that fits the longer rear axle.

Anyone have a fix, or know if Fuel makes a deeper center cap?

Rear hub, no cap.

Rear center cap too short.

Front center cap fits fine.

What did the company say when you asked them this product-specific question?

Haven't had a response yet. I'll let the forum know when they respond.

In my case,They have spacers that they sell. That happened to me as well. Discount tires/Americas tire store ordered them for me no extra charge. Dont worry, Im sure they thought of this.

Looks better without. It's a Pita keeping the hubs painted nice though.

How do you shine those hubs up? I'm certainly not opposed to forgoing the whole plastic cap if those hubs don't look like garbage.

Wire brush, brakeclean, then a coat of VHT Epoxy black. Should last a year or so before it needs touched up. I do the same to my beater steel wheels.

whats up with the lift? bed full of weight?

The F350's have a large axle so the hub sticks out more then a 250

The picture is deceiving. My driveway is sloped upwards. The truck actually still has a little bit of rake on it.

The problem is that ford mid year changed from sterling 10.2 axles to Dana m275 which has a bigger hub assembly. This isn’t for just 350’s. My f250 is the same way on my bmf wheels. Bmf (sota) has changed their hub diameter on the newer wheels since. Looks like fuels are the same way.

Kind of. It wasn’t a mid year change, it is intentional for the build. Ford specs the Sterling 10.5 on 250s without the HD tow package, and the Dana M275 on the HD tow and 350 SRW. The hub diameter is exactly the same between the two. The axle shaft stub sticks out just under an inch further on the M275 when compared to the 10.5.
Both are great axles, btw. No issues with either of them.

I gotcha. Didn’t know it was HD tow package that made the difference on f250. So my f250 must have that package as it has the m275. But I was under the impression that the diameter of the hub between the two is different as well as the depth. Only by 5mm however. Per my conversations with BMF about this. Granted I know this isn’t exactly on the topic BMF revised their wheel design to accommodate this 5mm difference and also added optional deeper caps to fit over hub. They obviously recommended that I buy new wheels but I already had these. Not going to spend that kinda coin for that minor of an issue. Another rep did advise that I could also take a dremel to the inside of these wheels to accept the larger hubcaps.

This may not be the same issue with the fuel wheels. Hope I don’t confuse anyone.

I had the same problem with my Raceline wheels. The company I purchased from was very good and got the right ones for me. Mine needed to be an inch longer. The first call resulted in an extension. It did not work either. The second call got me the correct one.

Good luck, I hope they make it right for you.

The super duty hubs are “hub-centric”. They rely on a closely machined inner hub diameter to center the wheels on the axle, and use two piece lug nuts with a flat face. Both front and rear axles use the same hub centric diameter, thus you can move wheels front to back. The Dana 60s are the same from 250 to 350, thus requiring the rear hub diameters to be the same. If your replacement wheels are also hub centric, then absolutely do not take a Dremel to the inner diameter.
Many replacement wheels are “lug-centric” and use tapered lug nuts to center the wheel. In that case, the inner diameter of the wheel is not as critical, because it doesn’t ride on the hub.
Nottom line way to tell — two piece flat lug nuts=hub centric, one piece tapered/cone shaped lug nuts=lug centric.
