Doncha think that listing what these wheels fit, would be a good idea? Because...how many people would know?

6 lug 16" wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle. = 1953/66 F350 & P350 Parcel Delivery: With single or dual rear wheels?

A 16” with the 6 x 7.25” pattern (on a Ford) would be on a DRW F-350. These wheels would be the two piece locking side ring style having the Firestone RHP outer rim design. I don’t know of any, no matter the truck brand or wheel manufacturer, that were a one piece construction. An alternative wheel that was a Ford factory option between 1956 and 1966 is the Budd company 17.5” x 5.25” tubeless one piece. The Budd numbers were 71320 for the earliest version having six hand holes and 79120 for the later version having three hand holes. I don’t have the Ford numbers committed to memory and am away from my books. These wheels use 8-17.5”/8R17.5” bias or radial tubeless tires that are about the same 32” diameter as a 7.50-16” original bias ply tire. The seeming difference between a 16” vs 17.5” tire diameter can be confusing, but is made up for in the shorter sidewall profile of the tubeless tire construction.

I have an available set of seven 79120s if interested. Stu

If I thought the Type of Truck was Pertinent to this request I would have ...IT IS Not a Ford ..It is a 1955 Studebaker 3/4 ton Pick up.

Wonderful, what is it, a 3R-10 or 11? I assume you've asked for these wheels on the Studebaker Truck Farmers and/or SDC websites. I'm a member of both, but usually only post on the SDC site.

But the type of FORD truck is important...at least here on FTE, because many people would not know what Ford trucks these wheels were used on. Did you know before you were told? Probably not.

Stu is also a member of the Truck Farmers site, but Stu has no Studebaker parts experience, but I do. I'm not that versed on the trucks, even though I owned an 8E-7. I know the Hawks very well.

TY for this info ... I am searching here because the Ford is probably the closest I will get to finding these ... most with Studes have either converted to discs which puts a smaller bolt pattern. Finding Stude parts for 3/4 -1 ton truck is very hard . Most are 1/2 ton or the much bigger models.
I am trying to replace the 17.5 wheels I have with a 16". I believe the problem with the Budd wheels is the offset. because they stick out past the outer edge of the wheel by over an inch. I would then have to make spacers and longer studs to accommodate the. if your wheels are less than 1 inch past the outer edge I would be interested and would take a ride to check them and purchase ..
Thanks
Mike

I have been to Stude International its an E12 .. Ive been checking at different events too ..Went to International meet in Providence RI, stopped in South Bend to inquire . I'm hoping to have a set of Steel wheels made so I can drive daily and take these off to store if I ever sell. It seems the Farmers site is mostly 3Rs or Bigger. TY Bill

2R body with fibreglass grille frame bolted on to change the front end appearance. Virgil Exner was the guy who styled the 2R's, when he worked for Raymond Loewy.

Exner later went to work for ChryCo, styled the "Dream Cars" and 1955/61 cars.

The first E series which I have they changed the grill which mine is steel moved the headlights to be part of it, larger rear window after the 3R and no split in windshield. I have 3 speed w/ elctro mech OD but the 224 was swapped in 56 with a commander 259 motor. everything else pretty much stock .
I was lucky to get original build sheet.
I like the truck needs interior work but its a good driver.

You look to have one of the last E12s built before the change to 8 x 6.5” wheel end components. I show that change occurred at E12-2732. The wheels you are looking for are Studebaker #677920 / Budd 61630-1 / NWRA X45096. That NWRA cross reference number is useless here because nobody else used that wheel. It is described as a 16” x 6.00G” having the Firestone RHP two part rim and 2 3/16” / 2.1875” of offset.

If the 17.5s you have now have too much offset I’ll venture a guess that they are Budd 72710s (you’ll find that stamped into them). They have 3.5” of offset and are a Dodge wheel.

The 17.5” Budd 79120s that I mentioned having are of no use to you. They have 4.75” of offset.

The closest alternatives I find that might work if you can’t find your correct originals are E13/E14 wheels having 1.00” of offset. These were used by Studebaker and IHC 120 models. They are 16” x 6.5H”, K-H 40681/ IHC 157979-R91 / Studebaker 1687281. The next is a 17.5” x 5.25” tubeless, K-H 40695 / IHC 155925-R91 / No Stubebaker number given for it. Last is a 19.5” x 5.25”, K-H 40697 / IHC 155926-R91 / Again no Studebaker number given. Since the 16” has both IHC and Studebaker numbers it’s a good bet the 17.5” and 19.5” will fit too.

If all else fails I also have a set of four Budd 70740s that are 19.5” x 5.25”. These have 1/2” of offset. You’d be pushing the tires out toward the wheel openings about 3” from what you have right now, and 2” from the original wheel openings I believe, but it might work.

As Bill mentioned I drop in over at the Studebaker Truck Talk (STT) forum when I think I’m needed, so you can find me there too. Stu

I actually have Truck E12 - 1389 plate still in place along with Cab plate Model E-C2, CAB No. 10621, Trim No T-6046 , Paint No P-2624.
It came with 16" splits on rear and these 17.5s on front ...I am actually trying to set it with all 16's for daily drive the only 17.5 tires I can get are high ply trailer tires which ride real hard. and if I get a flat no one will touch them ...fortunately I have the means to change tires. I would just prefer to go to a 16" tubeless setup and put the originals away.
The Budd wheels I believe will push the inside of the tire too close or onto the Leaf springs . One question where is the offset measured from ? (where the wheel mounts to the face of the drum or from the center of the wheel?)
Thanks
Mike

Center line of the rim.

I said earlier that I wasn’t aware of any tube type or tubeless one piece 16” wheels having the 6 x 7.25” pattern. I remembered one K-H wheel used on an obscure early IHC120, but very shallowed dished. I think you have entered the custom wheel zone if no Studebaker owner speaks up offering donor wheels. For custom wheels to work you’ll need centers that will have the minimal dish needed to replicate your originals. Maybe the Dodge 17.5s (if that’s what they are) would be appropriate donors. Check yours for their Budd part numbers.

The custom wheel company I like, have visited, and bought from is American Wheel Specialist of Kennewick, WA. They are a wholesaler to the Les Schwab and Commercial Tire chains so will only work directly with you if you live east of these companies’ service areas. If you live out west you’ll need to work through a local retailer.

Bias ply 8-17.5” repop tires are available from Coker and Universal Vintage Tire. I agree that trailer tires will jar your teeth. Stu

TY Stu , I am going to go to Universal Vintage Tire today, turns out I m only 12miles from them. I also plan on calling AWS see what they can do for me ..I believe I am well east of them being in Harrisburg PA. My Truck is in a garage I have in NJ 200 miles from where I just bought this house. I am doing all this because I rather drive it here than trailer it.
