C4/C6 Bellhousing/Block Spacers

C4/C6 Bellhousing/Block Spacers
Are all the spacer from SBF that fits between the motor block and the C4 / C6 bellhousing the same size and bolt pattern? As in one size fits all? As I understand there are 5 & 6 hole mounting, is this correct?
On this 300 motor build I am currently working on I more than likely will use a mid 70's C4 bellhousing and 164 flex plate. Just want to make sure that all C4 / C6 spacers are the same so I can start looking for one.

C6: The converter housing is made as part of the transmission case.
AFAIK, the 5 or 6 bolt hole mounting has to do with 289's assembled before/from production date 8/23/1964.

Sure are a lot of people out there that just use the term "Bell housing", glad I am not the only one.
So if it's a "bell housing or a converter housing" that is going to be bolted to a 1992 Ford 300 EFI block you still need to install the metal spacer between the two. Is there a certain number spacer that needs to be used with a 300 4.9L / C4 combination? Is the 300 a 6 bolt mounting setup?

The 300 is the six bolt pattern, same as the 240 six, '65 and up SBF and 351W.
I tried to run down info confirming the pattern is same on all engines for all years. Apparently it is--almost. One post mentioned an older ('71) starter being 4 1/2" in diameter where the block plate was only 4". So if you find something "current", you should be OK.
Usually Numberdummy can look up the part number and the catalog will tell the applications with year range etc.
Bells and converter housings look the same but are not interchangeable as you doubtless know, so there is some logic and practical value to the different terminology. FWIW.....

Number Dummy --- The 300 that I am building is not going in anything for now, it will be on a run stand for awhile. In the future I would like to put it into a early Ford hot rod with a C4 transmission.
I want to pickup a C4 flex plate housing and a 164 tooth flex plate to bolt on to the 300 so I can mount a starter to the setup.
Do you have the correct numbers for the block / housing spacer and the best C4 flex plate housing that will work with a 164 flex plate?
Thanks for the help

All these numbers are going to further confuse you. Keep in mind that the PART numbers will not be found on the parts you're looking for. The bell housing will have the ENGINEERING numbers (which are not the same as a part number) cast into it. What you need to look for is a 164 tooth Bellhousing, flex plate and automatic transmission block plate (not the same as a manual trans plate) Other bells that will serve the same purpose on a stand are an FMX bell and a C5 Bell. The C5 bell is deeper than a C4 to allow the use of a lockup converter. Both these used the same 164 tooth block plate and flexplate. The purpose of the block plate was to index the starter to the flexplate/flywheel so that the starter gear teeth meshed properly. Neither the block plate nor the flexplate will have had either numbers on them, unless affixed to them on a sticker.
