Angry Lariat 250 ROOF LEAK!!!!!!! WTH?

I am so depressed right now.... my 2017 250 lariat diesel that I thought I would have for the rest of my life (why I waited for aluminum) I was gone for 2 weeks and when I went to go pick up my 5th wheel from storage I found 4 inches of water in the USb compartment of center counsel and glove box filled with water also front carpets soaked.... this thing is less than a year old with 9K miles on it. I have read about issues with sunroofs before I bought and wanted one without it but could not delete from Lariat pkg. water was dripping from the passenger grab handle....

(IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BUY TRUCK DO NOT GET A SUNROOF!!!) it is at dealer now but I have had an Audi with water intrusion and it was never the same. The screen keeps blinking USB issue.... I can only imagine all of the electrical connections that will corrode over time let alone the mold in headliner and carpet.. I am disgusted with Ford as they should have done a recall as this was a known issue before.. I need to understand the process to get this thing replaced with a new one as I don't want this thing anymore... I ordered and built this thing and now they do not make caribou color anymore... PISSED OFF $70K truck customer!!!!!

I assume it was a factory sunroof?

Any possibility the drain tubes were plugged? Typically they go down that front A pillar (where you say its leaking) They do get plugged overtime - especially when sunroofs are used often and crap gets lodged in there.

I'm curious to see what the dealer says. Sorry to hear it either way.

Sorry for your issues. But this is exactly why I will never have a sun roof. I know my comment it doesn’t help your situation.

You may have to go thru the lemon law process for your state if they can’t get it fixed the right way. I would start with the dealer, then give Ford Customef Service a call, explain the situation and get a case number.

yes factory sunroof 2017, they are not clogged as its not under a tree and looked clear.. saw a post on a truck in PA with same issue, snowed and froze drain tubes then a quick rain with nowhere for water to go. BAD DESIGN BY FORD as I have 2 explorers and a escape with roofs that don't leak.. I tried to delete it from order but could not from Lariat pkg BULL*****..... I am so friggin pissed!!!!

Recalls are for safety related issues. A TSB (technical service bulletin) is a common tool used to remedy non-safety issues.

Very curious too. Love my moon roofs but I suppose it wouldn’t take but one issue like this to steer me from them.

what was the circumstances? Thawing snows? I’ve wondered if a situation could happen like that.

Not really in the eyes of the NHTSA. Brakes failing, fires, steering wheels coming off, airbags going boom, fuel leaks etc are safety issues. A water leak like this is not a safety issue.

on top of that, we dont even know what the cause is. Coming from the Apillar, I'm going with drain issue.

To the OP, your other 2 Forda have the same drain system like most cars. Drain tubes run from the front down the Apullar to the front wheel well. Same for the rear, drains run down the Cpillar. This is NOT a new design that sucks.

There have been posts on here about the drains not being connected and it just draining into the headliner.

This I haven't heard. Is this a 2017 specific or across '17-'18?
