Sunroof install

So I bought a 17 f250. Dealer gave me a smoking deal but it doesn’t have a sunroof or cab lights. Dealer told me they would install them for free. Should I be worried?

I would be. Cab lights aren't too bad, but the sunroof would worry me.

They said they’ve installed a handful. But I don’t know anyone who has done this install. Seems like a big job. But I dig holes for a living so to someone who does this it may be simple

I would get the cab lights and an extended service plan instead. You would be better off in the long run!

so are we talking the factory panoramic sunroof or a "aftermarket" unit? as I thought the roof sections were different on models without the big sunroof, with regards to bracing ect.

Depends what kind of drugs the dust bunnies in the auto body department are on.

Meth Tuesdays are fine. Weed Wednesdays, nothing gets done, just fix what ever you screwed up Tuesday. PCP Thursdays?.............yeah you don't want that.

The panoramic sunroof. I have the extended service on it already. I figured t would be easier to find a truck with the roof and just add the cab lights. But he’s adimant about getting it done. All warrantied also

I don't know if things have changed, but I would never install an after-market sunroof. They always leak. No way I'd believe they can install the same factory panoramic sunroof.

sunroof will only be covered for 2 years on parts/labor but what if they F up your truck? No way I'd let them cut a huge hole in the roof. Also, the trucks that have the parking organic moonroof have an additional brace across the front of the roof that the trucks without do not. It is to ensure the roof is structurally sound. I'd never let them do it.

And as far as the 2 yr warranty.. I really dont even know if Ford would cover anything because the dealership is modifying the vehicle. No way ford would approve a dealer to do this.

lastly, it is about $2,200 in parts excluding any wiring harnesses or switches. I just do t understand how a dealer w would do this. Modifying the wiring will kill your warranty on anything related to it.

Ummmmmmm, YESSSSSSS. Be very worried and afraid about any aftermarket sunroof install.

Hmmmmmm, they said they`d install a sunroof for free?

Please tell me this is a used 17 SD and you did not by it from a Ford dealership.

If this vehicle is used and still under the factory mileage warranty, I really don`t see how having an aftermarket sunroof installed would not void the warranty excluding the power and drive train.

Even if the parts are brand new Ford factory parts, the installation will still be aftermarket.

Your sunroof will be your most unused option that you have ever purchased... Skip it.
