Can you still get New mirrors from Ford?

Does anyone know if you can still get new mirrors directly from a Ford dealer? I can't seem to find them on their site anymore and I haven't been able to locate a part number.
I'm looking for the "swing-lock" or type 9 mirrors.

I can check, I work with a parts guy at Ford but I'm 99% sure they're obsolete.

I was afraid of that, if you could let me know for sure that would be much appreciated.

I was told I could still get them about a year or two ago, but I wasn't sure if they were still available. Now I wish I had bought a set while I still could.

Maybe try LMC truck? Probably pricey if they have them.

Reproductions are available from RockAuto very inexpensively.

I think you are going to find that most if not all of the reproductions are of much lower quality.
Flimsy, rust prone and self adjusting/ vibrating while driving down the road.

Exactly my reason for searching for Ford mirrors, I've never heard anything good about aftermarket ones. On top of everything you mentioned, they don't even look like the factory mirrors.

Chrome or black?

If they are obsolete (I'll know within a minute after I look up the part numbers), this doesn't mean that no one has any.

There are still some available NOS for 1973/79's, so it's possible that some are available for your 1997.

And btw: The mirror heads could be purchased separately.

I'm looking for the chrome mirrors.
I would prefer to get the whole assembly since the chrome has peeled and rusted on the top mounting plates.

I just purchased a black pair of the "sports style" on ebay yesterday, NOS. I paid a pretty penny though as they are obsolete from Ford. There's plenty of aftermarket ones available but like McLeod stated, they are of inferior quality. Good luck on your search.

Ok, my parts manager told me they are definitely obsolete. He searched 'F1TZ-17682-D' and it's not showing up in any of the local dealer inventory. He also tried 'FOTZ-17696-A' which is similar/same, but same thing, they are no longer in dealer stock.

This is the type you're looking for, right?

That is the style I'm looking for except in chrome.

Thanks for checking for me. I guess I'll have to start searching ebay for a NOS set, or a really nice used pair.

FOTZ-17696-A .. Right TYPE 9 Chrome Low Mount Swing Lock Mirror / Obsolete

ALCALDE AUTO PARTS in San Juan Puerto Rico has 1 = 787-753-7011.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOTZ-17696-B .. Left TYPE 9 Chrome Low Mount Swing Lock Mirror / Obsolete

There's 1 on ebay, listed as F0TZ-17696-B - $70.99 or best offer.

Applications: 1990 F150/350, F(Super Duty) & Bronco from production date 6/1990; 1991/96 F150/350, F(Super Duty) & Bronco; 1997 F250 H/D, F350 & F(Super Duty).

I couldn't locate any additional, but you might call and ask Green Sales (800-543-4949) to run these numbers to see if they can find some.

> > Post #11 = F1TZ-17682-D is a left side "Night Appearance Package" black Type 9 mirror. There are 12 available NOS / The matching right side: F1TZ-17682-C - 0 available NOS

I have gotten some real nice ones from the jy over the years. Sometimes I just grab them whether I need them or not. The oem mirrors seem to last a long time If they aren't neglected, so there's a high likelihood that you can find a good set.

Thanks for this info NumberDummy, I'll look into the one in Puerto Rico and see what's involved to get it shipped here. And I'll see if Green Sales can find anything.

That will be my next step if getting a NOS set doesn't work out. Most of these trucks have been picked pretty clean in my local yards, and a lot of them are junk. So I'll need to start expanding my search a little further.
Mine are currently usable so it's not a huge rush, but the passenger side got bent last week. (I have no idea how, it was like that when I got out of work). And the chrome peeled off the mounting plates since before I owned the truck, so they are getting rusty now.
