Owner of Anderson Hitches in legal trouble

This is my neck of the woods. Will this change your opinion on buying an Anderson Hitch? It sure changes my opinion of the owner!

Doesn't change my opinion of the product and support, which both have been excellent. Although, it certainly does not look good for them to be acting like complete jerks.

I suspect that this incident will not help sales for at least a while but Americans seem to have short memories. After a trip to Arches National Park at Moab and seeing those beautiful, many million year old wonders sure would go elsewhere for a hitch if indeed Ryan Anderson or one of his family are convicted (Class A misdemeanor) of defacing one of them..

Theis link may work better: https://idahostatejournal.com/member...53287525d.html

That’s an incredibly self-centered and adolescent thing to do. Hopefully it gets addressed correctly by the authorities.

Scum. No reason for such self centered and infantile behavior. Utterly U.N. American to deface a National Monument.

After that incident, I wouldn’t even think of owning an Anderson product.

Hope they go bankrupt.

Not that it matters that much, but his actions were not in the national park, but on BLM land.

How incredibly stupid. I like their products. I have three of them. But their name is forever tarnished in my book. What a horrible example to set for their kids. If I was investigating this I would want to know where else they've been on vacation.

That's a crying shame. That is OUR property (all American citizens public property) managed by BLM.We are supposed to be good stewards of mother earth. The saddest part is,not so much his actions but what he's passing down to his kids.Shameful.

The product (in my opinion) has nothing at all to do with an indivual's actions. I like my AUH and that's all that matters to me. His legal status is not my concern.

They do make a fantastic product. Unfortunately when someone does something like this it not only affects the person, but it gives the entire company a black eye. I hope for his business and his employees sake he makes things right if he is indeed guilty.

I suspect others on here have never made any mistakes that they regretted later.

It appears to me that he is owning up to the misdeed and will pay his restitution, the same as any other who breaks the law in one form or another.

His statement of apology should help. I’m satisfied wih his approach to resolving this.

As near as I can tell, the letter of apology came out after I read the original story. The story shows that it was updated but it's possible I missed the link the first time I read it. I still think he's an idiot but I'll backtrack on my condemnation of the company.

Sent his kids down to the vehicle to "switch plates on the truck", when he realized he was going to be turned in?

Yeah, sounds like he's totally willing to "make amends".

Only after he realized he was toast.

There is no question it was a self-centered, adolescent, and stupid act. At this point his best move is to plead stupidity, own it, and fund any “restoration.” I’d be happy to see him forced to do a 1000 hours of community service too.

Edit: Just read the witness accounts about him continuing to etch the rock after being asked to stop. If those accounts are true, he deserves having the book thrown at him.
