Boost issues. Zero boost then low-ish boost.

Hello all,

2006 F250 6.0 w/ 211k miles. Cold air intake, exhaust without cats, EGR deleted, tuned.

I had an issue when taking my son to school where my truck only built a pound or two of boost, maybe 5 psi at WOT. No CEL, truck ran fine other than total lack of power.

I got home checked CAC hoses and everything seemed fine.I unplugged and re-plugged the MAP sensor. Ran KOER test on my Snap-On Modis, showed p0046 and p2263. Tested VGT with the tool also and it responds as the duty cycle is increased.

I cleared the codes and took it for a test drive. I drives OK, seems a little down on power at 75%-WOT, only will build 20-21 pounds of boost, where as before I was seeing high 20's. truck also lags a little more than it used to.

No codes now. I also pulled off the hose from the intake to the MAP and cleaned it, I also pulled off the plug on the intake and cleaned it as well.

The truck now passes the KOER test and doesn't set any codes, but boost still maxes at 20-21psi and there still some lag.

Any other ideas?

When is the last time the turbo has been cleaned?
Might be as simple as sticking vanes.

Do you have any leaks you know of from the manifolds up to the turbo?
Check every joint for any signs of sooting. Any leak before the turbo can rob it of extra boost.

Check all the CAC boots closely for any tears of signs of wear.

Check your y pipe bellows for cracks too. Make sure your v band clamp is not loose between y pipe and turbo. If it is, loosen manifold bolts, get y pipe to turbo lined up without having to force it, tighten the v band then tighten manifold bolts. You will see black soot outside the pipes if there is a leak.
