97 7.3 auto. Won't shift out of park while running.

I just tried to hook up my new trailer to the obs and when I did everything worked besides brakes. Rewired it then everything worked. But I couldnt get the shifter to get out of park with it running. I can get it to go out of park with the key turned to accessory. Then start it in neutral, then shift fine. Any ideas, I'm thinking I popped a fuse with the wrong trailer wiring.

thanks guys

Do the brake lights work?

Sounds like maybe the trailer brakes were connected to the brake light circuit, rather than to the brake controller.

Fuse assignments are in the owner's manual.

And on the back side of the little cover you pull off the fuse panel down by your left knee, all of the fuses are listed there

Thanks guys. It ended up being one of the tiny braided wires snapped and the ground and hot brake wire where touching. Clipped it and replaced the #13 fuse. Works great now.
