Smoke, then clears up

Hi all, problem started Saturday morning.

I warm my truck up for 2-3 minutes, drive about 4 blocks (no issues) and I see white/grey smoke coming out of tailpipe-always starts smoking in same location. EOT and ECT are 125-135, I can drive it for another block and it clears up, only smokes at idle and light throttle. Once it clears up (quickly) will not do it for the rest of the day driving around.

My mechanic seems to think it could be a turbo gasket......any other idears?

Have you scanned it for codes?
Do you still have a stock EGR cooler? If so, try the nose-downhill parking test overnight.

Park it nose down overnight, pull the EGR the following morning to see if it's wet, a sign the EGR cooler is leaking. Being you are in Cali I'm sure you are not deleted.
Did the bullet proof include a new EGR cooler?
Losing any coolant?

You can pull the downpipe loose to see if it's getting oily, which might point to a turbo shaft seal leaking.

If there is no hint of coolant smell at the tailpipe that might narrow it down more.
Blue smoke=fuel
White smoke=coolant(unless it's really cold, then it's normal......not going to affect you where you are)
Grey smoke=oil

Badgerproofed, it was badgerproofed.

I went through the same characteristics. There was a small contribution of smoke due a lazy EGR valve if you still use the EGR as working, but the real culprit was an injector that developed stiction. AR9100 helped somewhat, but it required checking the injectors with IDS uncompensated to find the injector, replace it and solve the problem.

Yes, updated EGR cooler with bulletproof. Ill check the downpipe, I did notice more than normal oil around boot closest to turbo.

No coolant smell and smoke is grayish, definitely on the lighter side of blue/black.

I think my tuner deletes EGR? I run rev X for stiction, but will have my mechanic check like you have said.

Thanks guys, just trying to get some idears before taking to mechanic on Thursday

You are not deleted if you still have the EGR cooler, which I figured was the case since you are in Cali.

Some oil in the boots is normal, it's from the crankcase breather and not to worry about unless you are seeing copious amounts.

Turns out it was a bad turbo seal. So I did the only logical thing and upgraded to a KC Turbo stage one.

After loading updated tunes yesterday.....this thing pulls like a freight train on top end. Spools REALLY fast. Hardly any lag, no smoke and EGTs are lower across the board. Sounds awesome under full boost. I love it.
