Hardwire radar, do I have to run wire under hood or direct to back of upfitter

do I have to run a wire from radar at rear view mirror or can I just take the overhead console apart and tie directly in to #1 switch? I don’t want to cut any wires but my friend was saying we could probably takes down the upfitter switches and just plug it in to what ever switch I wanted, is that possible ? Can I unhook the wire that runs from the switch and goes under the hood?

I've used blendmounts on a few of my cars. Seems to be the easiest way to get a nice mount and mirror tap wire at the same time.

I use a V1. It's power wires are just a phone line. I mount it on the glass with it's suction cups. High, by the left of the sun visor. Then tuck the phone line into the headliner and trim, go around the dash and under it, and connect to the upfitter wires under the dash. (2015, not sure if 17 is same)

. Ya I ended up using radar mount to rear view mirror and tucked wire in headiner and ran wire down pillar through firewall to #1 upfitter! It worked perfect and didn’t take long

I don’t have a power mirror as I have Xlt but I did use the mirror tap kit and soldered the extra wire the the mirror tap leads and ran them to the #1 upfitter switch under hood
