2012 expedition remote start
My parents bought there expedition brand new was supposed to have remote start and evidently ford didn't order it with it so they put one on when it came in. The remote start is a joke when you use it the minute you open a door or unlock the vehicle it shuts off. This remote start was not part of the key it was an extra fob.. my question is can I put a remote start on this vehicle that you can use on your smart phone?? If I can does anyone know the parts needed? Also do I need to look at getting a different remote start cause of the issue with it shutting off when doors are opened?

The best remote start system I've ever used was the Viper 5706v. If you also get the SmartStart GPS module you can start, monitor, and track the vehicle virtually anywhere there's cell service. Just remember, any system with Cell Phone and/or GPS tracker access requires a subscription for the vehicle to have network access.

Most of the remote starts only allow you to open the driver's door first, then others can follow. My Drone Mobile remote kit came with one fob that I threw in one of the kitchen drawers after installation. The app on my phone works perfectly, and that is what I use 100% of the time. I pay a small yearly fee for that app. First thing you should do is identify the make of the remote in your folk's Expy. You can then research if there is a module available to enable the use of an app on your phone, or if you have to rip that one out and replace with a newer module that includes using your phone
