transmission question, 1966 dump truck

There is a 1966 Ford dump truck that the owner is looking to give away. He said that the tranny is locked up on it. I am thinking about trying to get it, and wondering how difficult it would be to find a transmission for it. Am attaching a photo. Any information appreciated! Thank you.

On the drivers door - back edge underneath the latch area - you should find the warranty plate. Post a clear picture of it (we can zoom in so super close-up is not usually as important as good focus on it) and we can decode it and tell what transmission it came with originally if it is the original plate for this truck. Assuming it is still the same transmission - you might consider rebuilding it. An NP435 is really easy to work on and nearly all the parts are still available NOS as well as aftermarket. But, if it is a Clark or other more rare model then it might be a different path that would work best.

It looks sort of like the old dump truck that me and a buddy parted out some time ago - after I got the seats out of it. This link should show a picture of it.

The owner said the truck has a two speed rear end. There is someone else who he is dealing with who may get the truck though.

That data plate is from an F250 (F253 specifically) so the door on the dump truck must have been swapped out at some point and the data plate from the dump truck wasn't swapped onto the door.

Ah, I was on my phone and could see the data plate so thought it was him posting the data plate from the dump truck like I'd recommended.

I, myself, always look at the do-nee first to figure out what engine and transmission I'm dealing with so then I can determine what will work. I suppose another approach is to suggest options and then research if they would work or not - but still need to know what's in the dump truck I would think.

For the "F" transmission code in your F253 with 300-6 it should be a Warner T-18.

Probably not the transmission I'd choose for a big truck regardless if it fit or not, since they were not used in big trucks originally and wouldn't be stout enough in my opinion.
