Door Jam switches for Dome Light

Hello:

Do I see that part # 14413 is the switch that's supposed to detect when the doors are opened?

Is the switch supposed to plug into #13466?

If that's the connector that fits the door switches, I want to know what crimp pins were put onto the ends of the wires before the pins were inserted into the connectors...

These pins look like a MOLEX product, but it's not easy to be certain.

My original pins are lost to corrosion, and I'd really like to get the door switches working again, and not just to have a dome like that works... this is interferring with my cigar lighter as well. With no cigar lighter, it means I can't recharge my cell phone, etc.

Replacement switches are available, as are replacement connectors... but I haven't been able to find the pins I need...

The door switches have nothing to do with the lighter. All you need is an unswitched +, and a fuse to the lighter.

That's not the way that I read it. If you have a copy of the wiring diagram, follow this out:

I see the Dome Light as having a chassis ground, and being supplied through a wire designated "B-BL". That wire connects through a single pin connector to another wire designated "B-BL". This connects through a one pin connector to wires 53 and 53A. Wire 53 goes to Pin 2 on the Lighting Switch Connector, which also holds wire 53B. Wire 53A goes to the Left Hand Courtesy Lamp Switch and wire 53B goes to the Right Hand Courtesy Lamp Switch. The power for the Right Hand Courtesy Lamp Switch is provided by wire 54C, which comes from the Left Hand Courtesy Lamp Switch. This wire is in common at the L.H. switch connector with wire 54B, which receives power from Pin 1 of the Lighting Switch Connector.

This arrangement allows the Dome Light to be operated when either door is opened or when the Lighting Switch turns all the way over to the "On" position (which closes Pins 1 and 2 on the Connector).

Pin 1 of the Lighting Switch Connector also connects to wire 54A, which connects to wire 54... which leads back to the 15 Amp Fuse in the fuse block.

That 15 Amp Fuse also provides power to the Cigar Lighter, through wire 40.

If you lose power for the Dome Light circuit because the fuse has blown, you will also lose power to the Cigar Lighter.

Invalid basic part number.
Pic: Caption at upper right should read 1967/ (1967/72):

Close. My door switches deteriorated (sp) and did not affect the cigar lighter. Check the fuse. The option I’m going with is to crimp a female blade end to the door switch wires and use a brake light switch for the toggle.

Ok, so what is the part number for the pins that go on the ends of the wires in order for those to fit into connector 13713?

That could be a useful approach... how well does that switch fit into the mounting bracket?

The pins were only furnished with the 13A709 wiring harness.

13713 is the courtesy lamp switch.

C8OZ-13713-A (replaced C8AZ-13713-C) .. Courtesy Lamp Switch (Motorcraft SW-659) / Obsolete ~ 20+ available NOS

1968/72 F100/350; 1969/72 F500/600; 1969/74 Econoline (front/back and body side doors); 1970/82 L/LN/LNT/LT/LTS600/900.

And then theere's...

This shows the 14413 and 13466 I mentioned earlier. Could this be the glove box light?

Also, this shows 13713... but it shows it being plugged into the connector 14401. I'd like to know the part number for the pins that fit into that 14401 connector.

Which makes me wonder if that wiring harness is available anywhere...

..also, curious to know if that harness worked on either side, or if there was a R.H. and a L.H. version

What are the last 6 digits of your 1970 F250's VIN?

The VIN is F25YRH18012... so I guess the last six are H18012

Those sure look like what I'm seeking.

Think I'll order a few... at that price, I won't be out much if they're the wrong parts...

Thanks!

Update: Ordered this morning... crimping tool specified for these pins in not available (no big surprise)... setting them onto the ends of the wires by hand will be a stone cold pain... gonna take me back to my days as a Heathkit Hobbiest

They sure look like Molex connector pins to me. If I remember correctly there are 2 sizes and you probably need the larger size. Google "molex connector pins".
