Plastic firewall yea or nea

I am getting ready to rewire from what the O P had in it. My question is on the plastic firewall (abs) or what ever they call it. I think I prefer not to have it. I would like opinions from guys that have it and not have it for the pro’s and con’s all help is appreciated .

Looks ok . I'm not sure what real options there are . Carpet is difficult to make fit nicely .

I agree. My preference for my truck is carpet, but not every truck has the same look. If you have rubber mats on the floor like abe you may prefer the harder look. I don't have a good picture of the carpet like John but I have the same color in a loop pile. I got mine from Stock Interiors but the fit is miserable. I'll be replacing it with something better.

I did run the XMat sound deadener part way up the firewall. I'll do the rest after I get the wiring installed, which probably sounds backwards but my firewall has a lot of extra holes and I have more wiring than normal with the 4R70W transmission controller, Lokar shift indicator and Ford script heater.

Art,
Harrier tried to buy one at the Springfield swap meet and was told they have been discontinued. Your question may be a mute point.

What's discontinued, the ABS firewall pad? If so I'm glad I got mine years ago.

Guys I have one it is on the truck if you look at the first post I have two pictures. My question was is it better to have it installed or don't even use it ? I am getting ready to rewire and will take it off to check things out so I was just getting some opinions on what you my mentors like. (how is that for B S )

There you go. For the stock look, the ABS are the best thing next to the original cardboard pad.
