Question Pressure plate and clutch help

Trying to get my rebuilt clutch adjusted and I ran into a problem. I seem to have to much travel on the throw out bearing before it makes contact with pressure plate fingers. The fork is over half way through the bell housing opening and by the time time it is even partially depressed, it "bottoms out" against the housing. I already have the adjustment rod down to the lower end of the adjustment threads. Any ideas?

I would have liked to compare the rebuilt pressure plate with the old one, but I bought it back it January and it is long gone. I went back to the Clutch and Brake shop and they have no idea why it would be like this. It is an "11 inch disc and they said they thought they were all the same in these series of trucks. I left with both of us scratching our heads. My truck is a 55' F350. Maybe it is an odd ball like many parts on my truck?

There is about "1 of free play before it makes contact with the fingers. So the fork starts out a little more than perpendicular to the bell housing.

Hopefully one of you guys with the bigger trucks can help.

It looks like the pressure plate fingers are almost in the depressed position already.

I think the picture might me a little misleading. They come out just past flush of the pressure plate. As much as I didn't want to Mark, I did pull the tranny and took the clutch assembly out. What a pain, but at least I have the cab off. Makes it a little easier. Everything looked good and new.

Check the thickness of the disc. Lots of them are coming out too thick, which retracts the fingers beyond normal.

Thanks Ross. I've been wondering about that. Do you know what the original thickness might be? To late in the day to check now, but will definitely be checking in the morning.

For the 9.5" and 10" clutches, 3/8" is a good number for thickness of a new disc. I doubt an 11" is much different. That is the thickness with no pressure on it (off the truck).

You don't have the disc in backwards, do you?

I don't think so.....but I didn't pay attention today when I pulled it out. The long part of the disc hub abuts the tranny....correct?

Like this?

That is the correct orientation of the disc. What does it measure for thickness? It looks pretty normal.
