Window switch or window regulator?

Window switch or window regulator?
2000 f350 srw cc 4x4 and been dealing with a temperamental drivers side window for a while. It use to be that periodically it wouldn't want to go down which wasn't the end of the world and then out of no where it would be perfectly fine again. Today it went down and I went to put it back up and it wouldn't go up. Bigger problem. I got home and popped the switch cover off and nothing looked obvious so I got online and started researching. Found a few different forums with posts that pretty much described my problem but unfortunately no one finished up with their final fix. From that I found it most likely is the window switch, the regulator, or possibly chafed wires in the door hinge area. I went back outside with my multimeter and started testing for power. During that test I actually found that the switch decided to start working again and the window went up. I'm leaning toward the regulator being the culprit but wondering if anyone else has any thoughts. When the window isn't working I am getting a click from the dash area which a lot of people described. Also when I put the window up or down it sometimes seems a little sluggish and also it will stop short of going all the way down by about 3/4" sometimes and will go the rest of the way if you hit the button again.

That's interesting. I would hate to get stuck with the window down but I guess I could wait until the next time it happens and check the voltage at the switch. The switches also aren't all that expensive so I guess I could also just swap it out and see if that takes care of it.

While you're inside the door panel, you could spray silicone on the rubber side tracks. They could be dry, resisting the window causing it to move sluggish and wear out your motor. I had a motor go out a while back. Window got stuck in the down position. Tapping/hammering the motor would jar it enough to generate the power needed to roll the window up while I awaited my new motor to arrive.
