Gtp38r exhaust flow

01 7.3 238-80% sticks, gtp38r,gearhead tunes, fuel system and 4" down pipe 5" straight exhaust.

I did the ebpv valve delete but just plugged the holes in the exhaust outlet. Is the Garret outlet any better? I know turbonetics makes a bigger one just wondering if it will lower egts that much? I'm trying to get spool up a little quicker/ lower egts. I have some horrible leaking up pipes so I just bought the bellowed up pipes so while I'm in there I'm wondering if getting a new outlet would be worth it?

I'm getting ready to put a gtp38r on my truck and was told the outlet you have is the same casting as the high flow outlet. Just minus the flap.

The Garrett blank outlet is the same as the EBP outlet, they just pull it off the production line before the valve holes are drilled. It probably would not make any noticeable difference in EGTs. The smooth bore of the outlet does enhance the flow of exhaust simply because it does not have the interior holes that disrupts the flow. How much easier the exhaust flows out of the blank outlet would take more diagnostic equipment than what I possess.

If I were you, I would replace the up-pipes and reevaluate your EGT readings and move forward with a plan from there.

I would wrap your up-pipes and get a turbo blanket. You'll get a little quicker spool.
Like others have said, change those leaking pipes will help those egts.

Yes, I agree on the up pipes I ordered them a couple days ago they will be here Friday. Even with brand new gaskets in the stock up pipes I can easily hit 1800* empty passing someone. Just trying to do odds and ends to get it lower before I do water meth injection

If it were mine I would fix the leaks and reevaluate the situation. Before doing water/meth, I would take some fuel out of the tuning until I could get a bigger turbo in there. That's just my opinion though.

my low tune which is my tow is almost smokeless and it's towing. Yeah I have to go to a t4 mount to get a bigger turbo which is kinda why I haven't done it yet.

I'm not an expert but if your exhaust temps are reaching1800* (quote from you) just by passing someone you have more than an uppipe problem.

Is the 1800* a typo that should have read 1300* or something? If not, you really need to figure out what is going on.

Big sticks and chipped - yeah... it'll get white hot if you let it. My EGT gauges go up to 1600, and I don't know if your gauges actually read 1800, if you're estimating, or if it's a typo - but that's not important. What matters is you are configured to burn down the motor if you aren't very careful.

If this was my only viable vehicle, I'd grab for the mildest tune I have and not get in the habit of passing people. I have an alternate vehicle, which I would drive in your case - until those exhaust leaks are eliminated.

I hear ya. I'm planning on the same injectors but I'm having them tuned for my turbo until I can upgrade to a t-4 mount and bigger turbo.

I can't even break 1200 empty going up an on-ramp with it floored. What are you passing, a freight train?
