1960 Ford F-100 Data Plate Decode
I am interested in purchasing a 1960 Ford F-100 w/ VIN no. F10C0R16379. The data plate indicates a body style F-100 and transmission and axle code A 01. The truck has a 4x4 chassis. Should the body style be listed as F-103? Other 1960 Ford F-100 4x4's listed on your forum seem to have that designation. I am wondering if someone swapped the cab.

My 1960 F100 4x4 is F10J on the serial number and F103 on the model. The axle code confuses me a little. According to my deciphering it has "A" is a 3.92 front axle and "01" is a 3.70 rear axle. that can't be right.
My 59 F100 2wd is F10C and then the A might be a little out of place and means a 4 speed transmission. So in conclusion, I would say that you have a 2wd data plate and title.

Series code (1st 3 digits of the VIN) decodes to F100 or F250 only. Does not decode to 2WD or 4WD
The MODEL code stamped on the Rating Plate code defines 2WD from 4WD
1960 F100 4WD: MODEL codes F103 & F105 = F100 4WD; 5,600 lbs. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) // MODEL code F104 = F100 4WD; 4,000 lbs. GVWR
*2nd line of Rating Plate: TRANS code listed first, followed by AXLE code.
TRANS A = Ford 3 speed manual // AXLE 01 = Spicer/Dana 44 rear axle, 3.70-1
