I rolled my truck and camper on its side last Sunday slick pavement after first rain it won't idle now it will go start after few starts but then it won't idle and it shuts off also I change the water fuel filter or ready and the brakes don't work so I'm going to try bleeding them in my power steering isn't working either and I saw transmission fluid leaking out but right now I'm just working on the engine part and trying to get it to idle correctly it sounds like a fuel issue so I'm not sure what to do next I change the water air filter but I'm not sure maybe doing that can't scenario like when you run out of diesel maybe research research older the fuel into the system or something I don't know how to do that so anybody has any ideas with this please let me know thanks 99 7.3 L diesel

My first thought is that the pickup fell off or got loose in the tank, so you're not getting good fuel. After that is did you check the fluid levels, you could be really low on oil.

I've never seen it myself but there is a fuel cut off safety switch somewhere behind the glove box. You might want to check that. Power steering and brakes are powered by the same hydro-boost pump. If you lost fluid you'll need to add some.

Inertia switch should be in the passenger side kick panel. If it's been running for a while that probably isn't the issue since it cuts off the fuel pump

I'm sure you have, but check all fluid levels and top off.

Your brakes and steering are atf only and if it was on its side for awhile, you probably lost alot. It's a fill, run and check game until the airs out going lock to lock on the steering. Try not to apply brakes until you get the steering back so you don't get air in your brake lines.

Was it running when it was on it's side and did it kill itself or did you shut it down prior...........important info.

If it's firing at all, your in business, Just take the time to do these things first.

99 rolled on side

I have replaced the water fuel separator filter and that's it. I will check fluid levels on automatic transmission power steering brake fluid fluid is full but brakes are just mushy to the floor. I'm not sure on the engine if I was to run out of diesel gas when driving how do I prep the engine to get diesel back into the fuel system correctly maybe I should do that after I check all the levels of fluids. I have never had to deal with prepping the engine correctly with the fuel and can anybody help please let me know how to do it or send meet somewhere on here that would tells me how to do it thank you. Engine was firing would then idle for a few moments and then just shut off. I think it did not run once it tipped over I think it shut off pretty quickly.

If nothing was damaged on the engine, all you need to worry about are fluids. But I would inspect a lot of things first. As DD mentioned, many things could be wrong if the engine ran while sideways. The turbo uses gravity to drain, oil starvation, fuel tank damage, and just ancillary systems coming loose, exhaust components, etc.

Running our 7.3s out of fuel is no biggie, add more to the tank and cycle the key a few times and let the electric pump run. Simple.

Checking the fuel cut of switch under the glove box is free. And there is no priming system for when one runs out of fuel, it just runs rough 'til all the air works its way out of the system.

Kinda need a spot on story of the roll.

If the engine was shut down immediately or not, or did it just run until she shut down?...........there's a path to answers either way.

Which side was on the ground, helps immensely.

After the roll did you or anyone else touch the brake peddle or correct the wheel alignment (as far as steering it engine off).

Have you cycled the key as discussed with the no run position for 10-20 seconds a shot 4-5 times.

You do hear the hum under the drivers frame rail?

You have added all fluids. (all fluids).

99 rolled on side

The fluids were all low, oil must have leaked 2 gallons when on driverside. The power steering cap was loose lost all so steering and brakes didn't work until filled power steering. Brake level was fine . It had trouble idling before all this and some after stocking fluids good now. Some white smoke still coming out when above 1400rpms. But have only driven down block. That should disappear. Will check tranny fluid again looked good though.
Thank you for all the help fluids big thing to check right away. Great advise thanks again.

Matt
