Updating 2003 to 2007 motor

so as my 6.0 sits, I’m wondering if I should keep it or sell it. If I keep it, it’s going to need a repair to start and I’m planning on putting motor to a 2007 spec. I head you can do this by updating the oil system etc from bill hewitt. What’s the price for this and what is done. Thanks to people that reply.

If you are going to do this your self you would need a HPOP, HPOP cover, branch tube, HPO rails, standpipes dummy plugs, engine harness bracket and tube for the EBP sensor a new front cover with a new water pump and lower radiator hose as they made the water pump larger and changed the angle of the pump suction hose. Depending if you are gonna use the 03 pistons you would need to retain the 03 injectors and possibly the glow plugs as there was a change to the piston style. If you research the coffee table books you will find the updates and be able to discern what items will work together. There may be some other suttle differences that im not thinking of.
P.S. An intake manifold.

Also an EGR cooler and passenger side up-pipe if you need to run it. The 03 cooler is better and you may be able to run that one on a newer intake with the correct up-pipe, perhaps someone with more knowledge can chime in on that.

Dieselsite makes an awesome HPOP that over comes the weaknesses of the stock pump.

What, exactly do you mean by, "putting motor to a 2007 spec"? If you mean actually updating all internal engine hard parts to later 2006/2007 specific model year parts, the amount of time, money and work involved, is going to make it so cost prohibitive that the most cost-effective solution to achieve the desired result will be to simply pirate a donor 2007 engine assembly from turbo and FICM, right down to all engine harnesses to make it a complete drop-in or just outright sell your 2003 and get into a 2007. The latter of the two will be by far the most cost-effective solution.

Just about ANY information that comes from that individual has to be taken with a grain of salt. The amount of misinformation he has posted over the years would make me steer clear of him. Like already mentioned by posts above, the internal differences of the numerous hard parts makes it very labor intensive to access, just to swap out for the sake of having newer parts.

Only a grain of salt? I would think more like a truck load. All Bill H is a salesman
that does not have a clue on a lot of things other than hype.

I agree it would less of a problem to just drop a 2007 engine in with it's harness.

Speaking of year compatibility things, Can you give some info in this thread here >>> https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-adapting.html

Thanks

Bill hasn’t convinced me of anything. He mentioned updating the 2003 engine to new specs but that sounds like it will be expensive. The truck isn’t worth the money and work. Thanks for all the replies though. Appreciate it.
