Brakes went out on 1997 f350 7.3. Replaced vacuum pump and now brakes work. On restart truck barely runs with check engine light. It ran fine before pump was replaced. Does the computer have to be reset after new pump installed?

Is there anything else you moved/ messed with when you replaced the vacuum pump?

No there was nothing else touched except removing the belt. I worried about it all day. You might not believe this but GOD told me to unhook the batteries. Left them unhooked all night. Hooked them back this morning and truck runs perfect. I'm not much of a mechanic so I don't know why that would work, but it did. Thank y'all for your input, you have greatly helped me with this truck before.

 

To me that means you had a trouble code that go cleared (reset) with the batteries being disconnected.
