Overdrive Off light blinking

So, sometimes, the Overdrive Off light starts blinking, but, doesn't always stay blinking. Sometimes it stops, within a few miles. Ant thoughts, as to what might be going on ?

Yes, I know what's going on. Something is wrong with the transmission system. To find out what's wrong you need to get the codes read. The places that read codes free usually cannot read these codes. You need either a good independent shop or a Ford dealer.

Or you can buy a code reader and read them yourself.
Here is one that most auto part stores sell or amazon:

If your confused Doug, they're both right.

Mark is thinking if you own a truck with a powerstroke diesel engine and subford is thinking if you own a older (pre-obd2) IDI diesel or gas engine.

You've heard from the experts here already, but is it possible it's just a bad toggle switch in the shifter? Between mark and subford they will have the answer. Rule/step number 1 is to check the codes like they said.

He has a 1995 F150.
He has an OBD1 Truck.
So he more than likely has a 4R70W transmission.

No, it isn't possible. A bad switch on the shifter will not make the OD OFF light flash.

Thanks. I assumed if it was it would be throwing the OD in and out as well.
