Question F150 Chalkboard Noise

Hello. My 2011 F150 ecoboost (72k Miles) recently started making a noise similar to the one when you grind your nails against a chalkboard. This noise is coming from the front end of the truck. I am able to replicate the issue when I go to take off from my driveway (very light acceleration), drive-through windows, leaving parking spots, and finally when breaking just before I come to a complete stop (EX: slowing down to pull up to a driveway to swing to back in). Mind you again, this is all under slow speeds, maybe less than 3MPH, so BARELY moving.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and if this is posted in the wrong section I do apologize!!!

The reason why I don't think it breaks is that the noise only happens at a slow speed. I don't hear anything at any other time. I'll definitely get under it and check the calipers, pads, and rotors this weekend to eliminate that completely.

So to eliminate breaks... I was backing into a parking spot this morning and: I let off the breaks while in reverse, stood still for a few seconds(truck was level, no movement) and as soon as I went to SLOWLY backup the grinding/chalkboard noise sounded.

Sounds like parking brake adjustment to me. Mine does it from time to time. I backed off the star gear on the drivers side a couple spins and it was fine.

Still sounds like the metal tab on worn out brake pads rubbing against the rotor. Did you pull the wheels and actually LOOK?

Did not do that yet, Work has been hectic. Will try to get to it this weekend! Doesn’t hurt to take a look

Could be a stone wedged between the dust shield and disc.

It's possible that it could also be the IWE's and not the brakes. It sounds like you could be losing vacuum at low speeds and at idle. If that is happening your IWE's will be partially engaged thus causing a noise similar to what you're describing.
