LMC Bumper Won't Fit

Hello Folks
I purchased the rear bumper for my '69 f100 step side/short bed from LMC
It wont fit according to the body shop guy - the place has been around for over 20 years, has positive reviews, and does much restoration work on old cars and pick ups.

I checked my order from LMC and the numbers line up to my '69.

Any suggestions, ideas, options?

Many thanks

Do you have an old bumper to compare it to?

Flareside = Ford, a stepside is a Chevrolet.

1948/72: There is only one Flareside rear bumper, but for 1973/79, there are two.

It's possible that LMC sent you a 1973/79 F100/250 2WD Flareside rear bumper or the correct bumper with the wrong brackets. The width between the inner frame rails behind the cab is 37 1/2."

1961/72 F100/350; 1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys): The width between the inner frame rails behind the cab is 33 1/2."

37 1/2" vs. 33 1/2" = The bumpers are different as are the brackets.

LMC doe,s it,s best once again. imo. you would be better off looking in the jy,s for a factory bumper. have it rechromed or painted. yea it will most likely cost more. but you know it will fit perfect.how much is your piece of mind worth.?

What aspect of it "doesn't fit"? The holes don't line up? Holes too close or too far apart?

Be specific.

I suspect it's not the bumper and it's probably the brackets, at least that was my experience. Fortunately I have a welder and was able to rework them but it was a pain.

If your truck has been bumped in the rear, the rails could be drawn closer together.
