AC cooling in 2017 Super Duty

I should have my 17 F350 Platinum in 2-3 more weeks. Right now I have a 16 F150 Platinum, which I know shares the same cab & electronics as the 17 SD. One thing I've been less than impressed on (at times) is the cooling in the F150 at peak FL heat. It blows cold, and I don't believe there to be any problem...I just would have expected it to move a lot more air on Max setting, and cool down much quicker. Its not a major issue at all, but it got me thinking/wondering if they use the identical AC system in the Super Duty that is in the F150... because I noticed in ETIS in my build it says "Air Conditioning: High Capacity Air Conditioner" (?)

Also - anyone have any complains on the seat coolers? I know in the F150 they issued a TSB, which others still weren't pleased with the result from.

The A/C in my 2017 does feel weak. Im coming from a 2003 Mercedes ML320 little SUV that blows much colder and stronger. Since I have a Super Cab I have less interior air space to condition than you Crew Cab guys. If it feels weak to me in Massachusetts it must be terrible for CC trucks down south.

Oct 2016 build, crew cab. HVAC system does not perform to same level as the 2013 and 2015 350's it replaced. My dog will confirm this. Prior SD's she was always content in the back seat in very little time. I often now need to override the automatic setting to increase fan speed to keep her somewhat settled.

Seat bottoms ok, back rest not so much with the AC seats.

I just switched from a 2014 F250 to a 2017 F350 Lariat and I was actually impressed with how well the AC works. Its a black truck with the panoramic moon roof in North Carolina (so similar to the heat in FL). I always felt like the AC in my 14 was a little weak, but worked. However, in my new truck I was freezing my wife out within a few minutes in the middle of the day over the weekend.

We share the same color and roof option. Makes me think I should test mine. I have modern HVAC equipment, I can measure accurately amount of refrigerant in system. Perhaps mine was not filled correctly, slim chance but very easy for me to verify.

I did notice that if you leave the roof cover open the truck feels like the pit of hell when you get back in after sitting in the sun. Closing it seems to help it a little bit but it could just be in my head.

I don't have any trouble with mine but I do have a white truck. With that being said I can feel the heat from the panoramic room and I will be getting that tinted soon!

I too can freeze my wife out of my truck in a few mins, but that is what dual zones are for and why I won't have a truck with out it.

Seats work OK, but like others said the seat back gets cool but not cold like the seat it self. Overall in Texas during the summer with 100+ I still think it operates really well.

I also really like our sound system in the truck as well.

Right!!! I have a white with camel interior ordered. Kind'a humorous to see someone with a dark truck, black interior, and duel moon roofs have an issue with the AC in these latitudes. Not for me Can't stand the heat here!!! Nothing like Aspen in the summer!!!

For anyone's interest here were my numbers. Ambient temp was 28/82 humidity 69%. A very slight overcharge but pressures were near to perfect. Pressure reading was taken after sitting in direct sun since AM, engine at idle for approximately 4 mins. I keep the sunshade closed almost exclusively.

I personally think its hit or miss. Here is my history of Super Duties and their AC:

2004 F350 - The AC was part of my lemon law return. It couldn't keep up with Texas heat.
2008 F250 - AC was terrible. Was forced to buy a remote start alarm so that I could run the truck from the office or home for about 30 minutes prior to driving to get it comfortable.
2013 F250 - AC was okay at best. AC seats were unbelievably effective.
2017 F250 - AC seems to be the best so far in all my Super Duties. AC seats are maybe 25% as effective as my 2014 was.

Reading through posts in this thread and many others on this topic it seems that every has some differing results. Now geography and parking location are going to affect results heavily. I am in Texas with a black truck and park outdoors 100% of the time.

Mine is nice and cool. Lot's better than hand cranking down both windows in my 1968 F-100.
