Update on No Spark

Just wanted to let those interested I have started the new engine after resolving the no spark issue. I also would like to share some information regarding the new engine. I purchased the engine from AutoZone. Normally I would have built it myself, but it was less expensive to purchase one. The engine for the truck was $1232.00, but I had a $150.00 coupon from AutoZone. When I ordered the engine I also received a $150.00 rebate. So the engine cost $932.00. It comes with a 3 year warranty. The engine was a Surefire engine.

At start up the engine oil pressure was in the middle of the oil pressure gauge, around the "m" on normal. The temperature was normal.

The engine was sold as a long block, with a new oil pump. I purchased a new water pump and radiator.

I have not driven the truck other than to move it from where it was parked on the driveway. It will be about two weeks before I can drive it as I am headed to Eureka Spring, AK. for a VW car show. Taking our recently completed Karmann Ghia convertible.

The point of this post is to let those interested in the engine know I will post updates as time goes by.

Also thanks again for the help with the no spark issue.

Thanks,
Mitchell

I was attempting to start a thread regarding the engine for anyone that would like to know how it performs. I am pleased with the oil pressure and the temperature. It will take some for me to decide if I will be happy with the engine. I am really hoping the engine performs well. I would like to take it for a drive and see if the oil pressure and temperature remain OK.

I think I will change the title of the thread to New Engine. Any suggestions for a thread title will be helpful. I am fairly new to this forum.

Thanks,
Mitchell

You might not be able to change the title but if you can then yes "New Engine" would be better.

I and think others were thinking it was an "Update on No Spark" and what the fix was?
Like found a bad wire in a connector and all is well now.

Good luck on the new motor.

Or how about this?:

"New Engine, not really an Update on No Spark".

I think that covers all bases.

All seriousness aside, did you ever update the other thread, the one that was actually about no spark? That would be very helpful.

And I'd love to hear more details about the new engine. I'm going to be in the market for the same thing myself, probably next year.

I'm not a fan of Autozone parts or anything they sell. Seems everything I've ever bought from them is just the cheapest item (cheapest price and cheapest quality) they can find/offer. They are all about low price not quality.

But I'm glad your happy and the engine is working out for you.

Be sure to keep records and receipts that you are maintaining the engine properly in case you ever need to make a warranty claim.
