which pertronix

I have a 1955 Ford F100. I want to install a Pertronix ignition but here is the rub. I called Pertonix and they advised the part number 1281 ignition. But on a Ebay site it states if your points are straight you need a 1281 ignition. and if your points are curved you have a later distributor and need a 1282 ignition. My points are curved. So does that mean I need a 1282? I am going to call Pertronix and ask. But I thought i would ask here also.

Thanks

Jerry

Call Pertronix. They are very helpful. And check the price on Amazon, they were the cheapest when I bought mine and you get free shipping if you have a Prime Membership.

Well I called Pertronix and they said I need the 1282 ignition. The 1281 is for the 1957 thru 1974 ford engines. For y block motors the ignition is 1282. I am ordering the ignition from Summit racing.
Thanks

Jerry

Jerry, I bought mine thru amazon and when it arrived I learned I had a later model distributor, I was able to return it and get the right one and it worked great.

I had the ignitor III and the matching flamethrower III coil, never had a problem!
