CEL and bad battery

CEL came on today after work, ran fine all the way to work today but came on after leaving. Had the codes pulled and came up with P0138 and P0158, also had the battery checked since I have had it for 7 years (Optima Yellow Top,) and it tested bad.

So, bad battery and bad O2 sensors or bad battery or O2 sensors? Before I drop $300......

you know the computer runs on battery power..

can not trust what computer is doing with a bad battery..

start with a new battery... also have the charging system tested.. as a bad battery can damage (overwork) a charging system...

also,, We can NOT see your truck.. or read minds... how about posting YEAR, model, engine type.. something .. Thanks.

And now I remember why I stopped asking questions here, because of crap like you just said.

no need to be an ***.

And for for anyone else who wants to actually be of help. It's an 05 with a 5.4

He gave you the information you needed as well as a reminder that we ain't psychic. Deal with the reminder in good grace and move forward next time. If your ego is that fragile, you might as well post on a girl's forum.

Glad you got an answer for your question. I'll keep your comments in the quote in mind for future questions, should I feel a desire to help... I probably won't remember what you drive, but I will remember you.

I must say thank you to the prepubescent keyboard warriors who lambasted me for not bowing before them and divulging which engine I had, what year model truck it is and god forbid it's gas and not diesel. I will not make the same mistake again.

4 years of Tech schooling.. you also could be a Master Mechanic.

and you would NOT need to ask strangers for help.

You must be thin skinned. People are trying to help you here. Start with replacing your battery

Guys, lets all play nice. Things could have been worded a little nicer on everyones part.

Including the year/motor information can be key to assisting on some issues. Certain motors or model years have quirks.

I too would have advised testing the charging system as a first step.

my apologies to you Sir, Senix.

this will be easy.. no truck data.. no help..
43 years of wrenching. it's not hard to provide year/make/model/engine.
