Puking Diesel

Hey Guys,

Encountered a new problem with my 2017 KR 6.7 F250. I remote started my truck when I was leaving the office and about 30 secs later walked outside to my truck running but it was puking gallons of diesel onto the ground from the underside of the truck. It seemed to be mostly coming from the area just in front of the tank near the water/separator fuel filter. I would put the volume of diesel at somewhere around a water hose on full blast. It was spraying everywhere from the retracted side step on the drivers side all the way to the exhaust pipe on the passenger side drive shaft and frame where completely covered.

I immediately turned off the remote start from the key fob and called roadside. They sent a flatbed within an hour. I'll keep you guys posted. Any ideas? The only thing I have done on the fuel system is have the 34gal fuel gauge tank recall done but that was like 2 months ago and have not noticed any leaking since then.

All Diesel...

Most likely the line from the pump to the separator/filter. It has a quick connect fitting that may have not been completely secured when replaced.

I'm going to get the same recall done on mine. If its related to the replacement, please let us know as I wouldn't want that to happen in my garage. I haven't had to smell the aroma of diesel fuel in my house and on my person since I sold my Dodge.

makes sense that they didn't secure the fuel line properly.

Yes, it's TSB 17-0046. It calls for a replacement of the fuel tank, if requested by the customer.
I'm requesting. This was an obvious mistake by Ford, but they are making good on it.

What is the reason the tank was recalled?

I have the exact same truck color and all. 2017 King Ranch 6.7L Diesel. White Platinum and Cariboo. Just purchased June 20th.

I have the identical truck as well, mine is a 6.2. Was the recall only on the 6.7's?

Heard back from dealer. They diagnosed it to a pinched gasket on the fuel/water separator assembly. Sounds like something incorrectly assembled from the factory the spray pattern makes sense it looked more like sprinkler spraying then a water hose. Must of have been spraying through a small crack where the gasket gave away. They already made the repair and are trying to clean all the sprayed diesel from the under carriage. I don't think its related to the fuel tank recall I had done. I will ask the service manager when I pick it up this afternoon. Thx guys.

Thanks Dave. Driving on the interstate in a good rain storm would probably help with the smell a bit. It would rinse areas that the guys won't get.

Check your build date Jack. Its only for trucks built before 04/01/17. It's on a decal on the drivers door jamb, toward the rear of the door.
