2000 explorer 5.0: Can I go conventional distributor and carb?

Ive been given a very good running explorer 5.0. (GT40P heads, etc) I want to replace the wheezy 289 in my 68 Torino (bolting it to the C4 trans) with it while trying to keep it looking somewhat original.

Id like to ditch the EFI/coil packs and swap the eddelbrock intake/600 carb and points distributor onto the explorer 5.0

Any problems in doing so? Has anyone else done it? What will I need to change to get it to work? thanks!

Yes you just need to strip it to the bare longblock first. The only special thing you need to keep in mind is the distributor must have a steel gear on it for the roller cam
