Today I tried starting my truck (5.0 V8 Lariat) and it cranks normally for about 4-5 seconds then stops cranking without the engine starting. It was starting up normally yesterday. 77,000 miles on it. I tried it 6 times- same result each time. Seems like ignition not "catching" and starter shuts down on its own(?) Any ideas/ suggestions?

 

Fuel pump fuse? See threads re: TSB 15-0137.

 

Or easier, pull fuse f27 from under hood fuse panel and inspect contacts. Don't just look for blown fuse but look for burnt or overheated contacts.

 

Give a blast of carb cleaner or starting fluid down into the throttle body and see if the engine fires up at all. This will confirm or eliminate a fuel delivery issue.
