Question F350 6.2L

Changed my oil the other day and burned my arm on the exhaust. Shouldnt there be heat sheilds on the converters? Looks to be missing heat sheilds. Anyone know if I am missing mine?

I just did my first oil change today on my 6.2... Let it cool down some more. The converters will cool down a lot faster than the oil will.

Pretty sure heat shields are meant to protect the vehicle not the owner.

They can also be used to separate the cat(s) from dry grass and other debris under the vehicle; my old F250 had one, although I think it was technically part of the cat.

That was my concern. I guess these trucks sit up high enough that it probably wont catch grass on fire.

LOL, ya I think your right. I was in a hurry and didnt let it cool down very much.I feel bad for those 10 minute oil change guys.
Next time I will give it a chance to cool down before I start draining it.
